i've repaired both microns & IONs, suffering with the same j111FET problems. parts looked identical to me "shrugs", and both are prone to the same problems.

Re: Should I Buy an Alesis Micron???

Also, I seem to remember ALOT of people having output problems with the ion. Even better than the micron would be the Akai Miniak though. Micron, ION, and Miniak, all share the same internal boards & parts. your liable to have the same issues with the Iak, and Micron as you would with the ION. The ...

Re: Should I Buy an Alesis Micron???

I would say a great First-Keyboard would be something durable, easy to use, and sounds great- Also easy on the wallet. The Alesis Micro is a step in the right direction, but I would suggest the ION over the Micron. both synths are identical, except the ION is more user friendly. ;) all of the parame...

Re: dump a ms2000r patch in a microkorg

Yes it is possible.
download MicroKorgs patch editor. http://www.korg.co.uk/products/pro_keyb ... rokorg.asp
you can also try dumping the files directly to the MK via MIDI.

Re: new synth owner!

stay in the $400-$500 price range, and find yourself a Alesis ION.
same internals as the Micron. The Alesis ION would be a great /FirstTime/ synth with graphic display, and full hands-on control.

Re: SCSI Zip Drive weirdness.

not everyone experiences issues, based on their hardware setup. My scsi card is ultrawide 68-pin and it will read and pull data from my sampler C50 wide, but won't write to it without issues. do some research in SCSI, I'm just saying the problem your having is more-likely to do with the cable. maybe...

Re: SCSI Zip Drive weirdness.

first thing i read was HD50 to DB25 connector, and went "Ahh, there's your problem". yes it would work- but one way only. -smaller to larger- you would have more luck if your going from C50 wide to DB25, but HD50? why would they even make a cable? the bus width is so off.. your talking about 16bit t...

Re: how to extract sounds from a EMU MP7

I know the inch thick manual is intimidating, but it dose cover everything your asking.
Emu did something right, when they wrote it

...and to think i printed that entire thing out, and paper-back bound it

Re: how to extract sounds from a EMU MP7

My best advice would be for you to review the Emu-Command Station Manual fist off. -The Emu-Command stations do support USB, but only as an aid to MIDI data communication. -Use E-loader to extract SysEx / Midi patterns. -you could MIDI the MC-808 or PC to control the Mp7, but doing so would be point...

Re: Are you an expert on a specific synthesizer?

I love the hardware, you love to hate :D I would consider myself an expert of the following; *Emu- XL7 command station. *Emu- ESI 2000 *MicroKorg. Romplers, Samplers, and Cheap sythns. Oh My! out of everything I own, I've been using this combo the most. eventually I would like to replace the Micro" ...

Re: f**k Buttons Vocal Sample

I've gotten similar results using my MicroKorg.
vocoder w/ arpeggio MIDI'd to a Groovebox.
I guess if i wanted to save a segment as FX's, I could loop it back to a sampler.. "shrugs"
