Re: Evolver Vs LP

i have the voyager rme and evolver desktop . i use the voyager more because of the interface and the feel of those nice big knobs but i have to say the evolver have a pretty nice inreface for a small desktop module , way better than the interface of the mopho (desktop) in my opinion. i think its the...

Re: Albums made mainly with Softsynths

Fever Ray http://pitchfork.com/features/interviews/7631-fever-ray/ in that interview she says that the producers changed most of the sounds she programs on her computer with sounds they make from analog synths for the album . Hm, I interpreted that to mean "They transferred it to analog audio" (i.e...

Re: getting too caught up in tech

Yeah I could spend more time playing with stuff rather than thinking about stuff, but the time I spend thinking about stuff makes the time I spend playing with stuff more productive. Sometimes it even seems like too much trouble to get all the gear set back up properly after a live show, that's wha...

Re: getting too caught up in tech

Try getting inspiration from other things besides what happens when playing around with gear? Or see what happens when you attempt to play guitar with alternate tunings, or borrowing from folk and classical. Transfer them to the synth/ keyboard. Doing cover versions is a good source of inspiration ...

Re: CASIO CZ's

yes the cz-1 is the ultimate cz . the cz-101 is interresting because of its size but i never used it . i had the cz-5000 and the cz-1. i liked the keyboard on the cz-1, its very ligth , like playing trough air. i used it a bit as controller . the interface is not bad at all since you have buttons fo...

Re: A book on modulars

How insistent are you to learn from a physical book? This website is an excellent resource for learning modular synthesis. It contains as much information as you're likely to find in any printed book, and it uses the Nord modular synthesizer in its examples. In fact, aside from containing a ridicul...

Re: Mopho vs Shruthi-1

hey this shruti looks appealing to me . but its sad about the interface, it would probably end up by the side of my desktop mopho, gatering dust together for their lack of immediate physical appeal, forever jaleous of the monopoly and the voyager. on a differant note maybe i'd end up using it since ...

Re: How much processing power do I need

You'd be better off with a slower-clocked quad core then a faster dual core. All the tests I've seen suggest clock frequency is the bgger determinant of speed. There's VERY little software that uses multiple cores efficiently. Now that of course will hopefully change, but right now... Depending on ...

Re: Yamaha CS-5 $350 go for it?

mine cost me around 450 $ about a year ago and i had to put 160$ of servicing on it . i think it cost me too much in the end since you can find a cs-15 around 500-600$. but i really wanted it . i said it before and i'll say it again , the LFO is &%$?&*NG awsome (nice range , great max speed) . the e...
