Re: Going to Japan, recommend me a store to buy synths

Hard Off can be good for synths. they're usually just outside the the main metropolitan areas. if you do a google search for hard off + <name of city> you can find a google map that shows the locations. also really really good for guitar pedals and old digital fx the good thing about buying used in ...

Re: just me? or do youtube demos all suck

this brings up an interesting point re: user generated content on the internet and how far we're willing to maintain a certain level of quality since we, ourselves, are responsible for both consumption and production like, obviously there's no harm whatsoever in somebody uploading a video of themsel...

Re: any ideas for feedback loops?

i've been sampling skype a lot lately. like, calling my girlfriend's laptop and letting them sit in an empty room together for a while recording the output into logic. you get some of the weirdest digital interference, total ghosts in the machine type stuff

Re: any ideas for feedback loops?

have you tried a no input mixer yet? plug the outputs of a mixer (the cheaper & older & cracklier the better) into its inputs. you can then shape the tonal characteristics of the feedback with the onboard eq controls. insert various pedals into the loop for further control this guy plays "twinkle tw...

Re: VST Bass amps (and vst guitar amps for that matter)

amplitube 3 ftw

but you should try some of the airwindows plugs if you're looking for itb colouration. the free channel3 combined w/ the (also free) density/drive distortions can get you pretty far towards "fattening up"

Re: What 'hidden gems' have you found on your synths?

correct me if i'm wrong but kontakt 3 only lets you modulate the loop start point and loop length, not the loop position. i've yet to find a software sampler that has this feature. is this a new feature in kontakt 4? you can do it in the numerology sample synth but it lacks basic features such as bi...
