Re: Mopho vs Shruthi-1

Clearly you know nothing of the Shruthi. It's actually more complex than the mopho. It can do (in addition to subtractive stuff) wavetables, phase distortion synthesis, vowel synthesis, and a shitload more: Clearly I never stated that I knew all about this thing, and clearly it looks like a piece o...

Why is Stevie Wonder always smiling?

Cause he doesn't know he's black.

Re: Clicking in the background on Pro~One

Even with all the controls set to 0, the envelope could be opening up just enough to produce the click. If this is with an envelope set up, have you tried putting a little attack on it to get rid of the click?

Re: Windows 7?

Win 7 runs fine on a modern PC. I'm not gonna be that old dude who carries around a cell phone from 1999 because "it still makes calls, dammit!".

Part of that whole sampling thing is digging to find the good stuff. People could recommend someone good, but chances are it's been used a hundred times.

Re: Crackly Pots on my 808

edit: Okay, I just read this part of Hybrid's post: Just about the worst thing you can do is hit it with contact cleaner as you'll strip all the internal lube away which will make the pot cease and become unusable over time - another all to common practice unfortunately So maybe best not to try my s...

Re: Main synths used by Astral Projection

Well, psytrance basslines are processed to h**l and back with EQ, compression. One common trick for the low end especially is to cut the subs from the bass and then layer another sine wave for the sub, or Waves R-Bass at the fundamental frequency to replace what you cut. Both these methods tend to g...

Re: Main synths used by Astral Projection

The LP probably isn't the best for those types of sounds but no way do they lack in the low end department - that's just crazy talk.

Re: MFB Nanozwerg, Urzwerg, Microzwerg & Megazwerg

All outputs to inputs should be fine since that's the intended use. I've mistakenly plugged output to output or input to input many times as well, and nothing bad has happened.

Re: Moog Voyager XL

I'm surprised people are so surprised about this. Modulars are more popular than ever, and it's a market where people don't blink at paying 5000$ for a system (or two to three times as much for a buchla). Seems like a no brainer to add a few patch points to an existing product to capture that demogr...

Re: Using a Korg ES/ESX-1 to control Audio Realism ADM

I used to do this with a Korg EMX-1, so it should be possible. ADM responds to MIDI note numbers so you'd just have to assign the corresponding note numbers on the electribe drum tracks and route that to the VST. The only issue I had is occasionally the midi timing would be off just enough to mess u...

Re: Windows 7?

Is the ASIO driver not showing up as an option in your DAW or does it just not load at all? Either way, first step with these kind of problems is typically to go to the device manager, uninstall the device and check the "delete driver" box in the prompt, then download the latest ones and install 'em.

Re: Dubstep Production

you're right about what sidechaining does obviously, and it was probably done in a subtle way at first then people realized it sounds cool when you crank it up. This is exactly what I meant. I doubt the first guy to do the pumping effect was reading some Foucault and sipping Scotch while it suddenl...
