Re: Ethan Kath (crystal castles) sound chip

I have a feeling he actually thinks he's clever. Is it selling out now?

Re: Light Cleaning of a 606

For this kind of thing you might try isopropyl alcohol pads. 99% iso is best, but the 70% pads leave hardly any water behind and are available at any pharmacy for cheap. I've used these for cleaning my 606 case with good results. um, no. Alcohol will eat away the paint and/or silk screening. Made t...

Damn, that's pretty impressive, CZ. I know some people would deride that as just wank or whatever, but I'm sure it's fun as h**l to do - I'm jealous. How long you been playing?

Sold my emx-1 to gubon. Lightning quick payment and communication and he let me know shortly after it arrived that it got there safe. Would certainly deal with him again as well.

Me, i'm still trying to figure out if the SYB (or the BSY) boxes can be used with monophonic old toy keyboards like my old brilliant Yamaha PSS-20.
I circuit bent one of these recently after finding it for 2.99$ at a value village. It can make some pretty crazy noises now.

This happened to me once.

I can't remember exactly, but I think if you boot with that button sequence you can try loading the firmware again.

Re: Mixing Properly

Different gear will have different output levels. From what I understand, it sounds like you're trying to set everything on the mixer to a standard level and expecting everything to play nice, but it just won't happen. You'll want to adjust the volume of everything as needed to make sure nothing dro...

Re: Forever aliasing?

So, if I understand you correctly, this might eventually be solved by using a more powerful CPU? This is probably the case. A 16 voice polyphonic patch on u-he ace takes up about 50% of my quad core. What Yoozer is saying is correct as ace uses 2x/4x/8x oversampling to achieve the inaudible aliasin...

Re: Forever aliasing?

There are soft synths (u-he ACE for example) with no audible aliasing, so I imagine there is or will be a VA that doesn't have any either.

Re: Looking at purchasing a new misxer

If I remember right, two outputs to 1 input with a y cable will cause the two outputs to drive each other and possibly cause damage. Maybe someone could confirm.

Re: is the mfb schlagzwerg a bigger mfb 503?

The 503 reminds me more of a tr-606 based on what i've heard - The 502 and 522 are the 808 like machines. For the schlagzwerg, the kick, snare and toms are the same as in the 503, and the hats are from the 522. The advantage of schlagzwerg is indeed all the cv ins/outs. I'd consider this a huge plus...

I saw an atonal string quartet last night that would probably encourage similar reactions. I can't say I enjoyed it but it was certainly interesting.

Here's a clip:

There's also a randomize feature and the ability to shuffle the pattern forwards or backwards by steps with sokkos. Some of the best patterns I've made was just me mashing random buttons and hitting randomize a few times. You can also easily make 128 step patterns just by copying one over and over a...
