Re: roland jv2080 & MKS50 advice

The problem with the 2080 is that all of the sounds were sampled at 32 khz instead of 44.1 khz. This tends to make it sound a little dull/muted. ^ this is correct, funny part is some people (myself included) like the slightly grainier lower fidelity JV1010/1080/2080 to the XV (very clean) sound. It...

Re: Need a Basic Sampler with Pretty Basic Features

+1 404 or 404sx

Plus, they have really fun effects on them...not like studio grade but great for live or sample mangling.

Re: Ever been tempted to sell everything and buy a Korg Kron

yeah I don't really think its the best, just a very interesting and underrated attempt. I agree about the bugs/workflow , I could never get into it as a workstation but as an 88 key controller/sound source w/ multitibral setup its a very useful piece. Kronos looks fun, when it drops $$ in a few year...

Re: Ever been tempted to sell everything and buy a Korg Kron

this is not me, but from vintagesynth comments and I thought it relevant: The Fusion is the best Synth workstation ever made bar none. I lusted for the Korg Kronos ever since it was annouced. bought one last month at GC after they had a huge price drop ($1K) had it a week and returned it. What a hug...

Re: VSE´s Electribe ESX-1 project...

balma this stuff is great, i'm amazed by what you get out of the ESX....was this like for a live set, an album?
Tons of fun patterns to play with , great samples as well - thanks!

Re: Ever been tempted to sell everything and buy a Korg Kron

Actually if it's an all in one synth you want, the Alesis Fusion is better in many ways, and stupidly cheap. Much easier UI to get into the FM and sampling on that, I thought. Great VA. And the 8 audio inputs are a cool idea... The weighted keyboard is good, but not as good as the Kronos Funny I ca...

Re: VSE´s Electribe ESX-1 project...

Any chance of a re-up of the ESX file Balma created? I'm not longer able to get it from the first link.

Moved the studio and trying to resurrect the ESX with some sounds I don't already have

Re: Tell me why I do/don't want an OTO Biscuit

I'd like to try one, I doubt there is a spot near me to test out but I'm going to keep an eye out on ebay. I re-tried the "decimator" effect on the Kaoss Quad last night, and it did a pretty good job but it is hard to get the exact setting you want, and gets a nasty almost ring mod/cacophony sound i...

Re: Tell me why I do/don't want an OTO Biscuit

The KP3 does have decimator effect/delay, but I've become slightly burned out on its sound...its a nice piece but I find I end up just going to a few effects out of all of them. The Biscuit Step-Sequenced filter for example (w/ each step a diff filter type/res) for example sounds very cool, as well ...

Tell me why I do/don't want an OTO Biscuit

I've had a good array of gear over the years, trying to find the best pieces to make the sounds I like just like all of us. I've heard of the OTO Biscuit but only got interested recently after hearing some good demos/reviews. What do you guys think about the Biscuit, considering the price? For me 60...

Re: Looking for a good 'Voice' FM synth

Although it's not in the right timeframe (or FM), for cheesy 80s/90s choir type presets I'm pretty sure you can't go wrong with the JV stuff (1080, 1010, 880)
Add some bit crushing/filtering/low end reverb to taste

Re: M-Audio Venom $200 at Sweetwater

Picked one up for 200 First, a few caveats/exceptions: -Not recommended as a first or only keyboard due to limited editing capabilties/no aftertouch/etc. -Haven't used as an audio interface; don't know don't care, probably about as weak as my novation x-station -If you have to have 1 knob per functi...

Re: M-Audio Venom $200 at Sweetwater

I absolutely did NOT need another synth, much less with a keyboard.....but for $200, i couldn't help myself. Even without all the editing capablities of knobbier stuff, the sound of this thing is pretty impressive for a VA. I'm justifying by selling off other gear, considering selling my x-station t...

Re: List of Yamaha home boards with programmable synth secti

I have a yamaha PSS-480 that has the programmable section, and you can save 5 presets I think. It also has MIDI which is a nice touch. Sounds a bit like the FB-01 to me? If you are interested PM me, i'd sell it for very little (it does have issues w/ 9V adapter, needs to be fixed or just run on batt...

Re: WHERE DO I START

can't go wrong with a roland jx-3p or jx-8p for fairly cheap.
For effects 80s rack mount lexicon would not be bad.
