Re: The New Tom Oberheim SEM Thread

Anyone ordered the Midi version and received word on a ship date yet? This email from Tom to a forum member on GearSlutz. It was posted on the 22nd March; Just last night I got the final software feature to work. Hurrah! The various parts of the MIDI-CV version are being built now and if the beta t...

Re: MFB Nanozwerg, Urzwerg, Microzwerg & Megazwerg

I'm on the same boat with Dogboy73...my next analog mono will be Neptune 2 because I like what I hear from the Youtube demos and from a lot of quality MP3's I've found around...I think Neptune's sound is really FAT and reminds me a lot of old-school Minimoogs! A bonus is the all-descreet design and...

Re: Basic Channel Synths/Gear

I think the Roland Space Echo effects feature very heavily on a lot of this stuff.

Re: MFB Nanozwerg, Urzwerg, Microzwerg & Megazwerg

Dont get too down on the Microzwerg - it will still be phat - and has more features and cooler filters than the SEM. The filter on the Microzwerg looks interesting being dual VCF with the 'space' & contour parameters. And yes it is more feature rich than the SEM & will be loads of fun to play aroun...

Re: New Roland and/or Korg synths using REAL analog filters?

you think if they make a tron series of gear think thier will be a tron legacy collection lol :D :D :D in all realty its a step in a new but old direction for korg. I think you might be right. I think Korg could be testing the water with this thing. If it does well then of course they will take the...

Re: MFB Nanozwerg, Urzwerg, Microzwerg & Megazwerg

Ultimately it's all down to personal taste, but surely no-one thinks you can glean a well-rounded and accurate impression (positive or negative) of a synth's overall sound/capabilities based on a few minutes' worth of crap-fi YouTube video? That is of course very true. The sound on the demo vids I ...

Re: MFB Nanozwerg, Urzwerg, Microzwerg & Megazwerg

All the MFB stuff sounds a little "plain" to me too, but you sure can't beat the price. Indeed. Must say also that the sound quality on my little MFB-522 drumcomputer is bloody awesome! If you're looking for a cheap alternative to the SEM, try the Spectral Audio Neptune II . I've got a Neptune 2. F...

Re: MFB Nanozwerg, Urzwerg, Microzwerg & Megazwerg

Yes, I'm concerned about the sound quality too. Maybe that's because I've just recently cancelled my order for a MIDI>CV SEM & I know that it's just about the best sounding modern mono synth out there. The Microzwerg does all the things I wished the new SEM did (as opposed to having the features spr...

Re: Real analogue synth from Korg: what would you buy?

If they basically just do a proper full analogue, modern day MS-10 (MS-30?!) it would be the biggest news in music technology since software plug-ins & it would sell like hot cakes if they could price it at around £500-£700 pounds. Anything sub £1000 would probably sell by the truck load.

Re: New Roland and/or Korg synths using REAL analog filters?

Did someone at Korg wake up one morning and decide to compete with the Gakken SX-150? Did someone wake up at Korg and say, 'All these modern analogue synths seem hugely popular. Hang on a second, we were doing this s**t ourselves over quarter of a century ago!! :? '. Imagine if korg had the balls t...

Same here. There's certainly a lot of sonic mangling potential in this little box & the filter set-up should work wonders with this. The Microzwerg has already taken pole position on my gear lust most wanted list ;)
