Re: Ridiculous eBay 'Buy-it-now' and starting bids.

So let me ask those who are complaining about the high prices of used gear... If you had a minimoog, arp, etc would you sell it for what YOU think it is worth, or what the market value is? Rephrased: Would you sell it for what you would WANT to pay for it? Or would you sell it for what people WILL p...

Re: Ridiculous eBay 'Buy-it-now' and starting bids.

Not that I really want to get to involved in this I just feel that one simple plain truth is being overlooked. People arguing this point seam to have forgotten what "value" is. Value is Simply what people are willing to pay for something. The consumer is what drives up the price not the "asshole" sa...

Re: Xpander Vs SunSyn vs ???

Thats what really attracts me to both of these synths. They both have a definite "sound" but It isn't limited. I had a mini for a while and though it sounded great It could only sound like a mini. I would love some more Xpander demo's, especially those that focus on its modulation capability. After ...

Re: Xpander Vs SunSyn vs ???

Yeah, thats why I am trying to figure out if it is worth it. I mean, price really isn't an issue for me, as long as it is really worth it. I think many old synths are overpriced and under featured. I do not think (from what I have read and heard) that the Sunsyn is one of those. I think 4000 is a fa...

Re: Xpander Vs SunSyn vs ???

That makes sense about the poly evolver, it did sound very different when I was messing with it. But I couldn't really "tame" the sound.

Re: Xpander Vs SunSyn vs ???

I tried out a poly evolver at sam ash and it really didn't do it for me(sound wise and I didn't love the feel of it). Despite the fact that I am very interested to know more about these instruments from first hand experience I realize I would be fortunate to own either of these superb synths. The re...

Re: Xpander Vs SunSyn vs ???

I have looked into the Omega, recently and think it is an option, but would MUCH prefer a sunsyn and they are in the same price range. I may get more serious about a Studio Electronics synthesizer if it proves too difficult to find a sunsyn. I really wish I could get into the andy, It is a very impr...

Xpander Vs SunSyn vs ???

I am looking for a mother polysynth for my growing studio and just thought I settled on the Xpander. Then I remembered rare and amazing sounding sunsyn and wondered how they compare. First I am aware of the not so snappy envelopes on the Xpander THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM. I am also aware that the sunsyn...

Re: Need the to find the best... Ob-8?

Well I guess I'm stuck in the Andy Vs Xpander debacle. Luckily I have some time to save and think them over.

Re: Need the to find the best... Ob-8?

That was defiantly the best Andy demo I have heard, and does really bring it back into the race. As for the Jp-6 I am a really big fan. But it really doesn't hold up in modulation capabilities against the Xpander or the Andy. That doesn't really throw it out It's just considering price it doesn't se...

Re: Need the to find the best... Ob-8?

That is very well stated. I don't know why I cant make the andy impress me. I really like the idea of a modern 16 voice Analog beast but the over all the sounds that i have heard comes off as tame and soulless. Maybe I just need to try one out. And as for what you said about modulation capabilities ...

Re: Need the to find the best... Ob-8?

Meta synth just takes a while to get used to. I don't do whole compositions in it however, I just right parts and bounce them to my DAW. In that way it is a very powerful sound design tool with really cool capabilities for new and old sounds. I like it for two reasons, The sound capabilities are hig...

Need the to find the best... Ob-8?

Need to find the best... for my purposes. I have been looking for a new poly synth for a while. Mainly looking at stuff >1000 and not really finding what I wanted. I have now decided to save up for something that will cover A LOT of ground and that is EXACTLY what I want. Lately I have been using Me...

Re: Juno 106 Voice Repair Quote

I have done research that suggested the same and it seams like a good thing to at least try before spending 60ish bucks on new chips. I didn't however end up buying the juno with the voice problems. The guy on craigslist decided to raise the price and I didn't feel like getting j**k around. Never th...

Re: Picking out a new poly synth

That does sound appealing I am not in too much of a hurry to buy a new piece of equipment so I may just keep an eye out for some one who is selling an Mks-70 and a controller (the jx10 has alot of midi problems that could be avoided by getting the mks). I agree with you that the string sounds are mu...
