Re: Proof that Roland are indeed insane.

If Roland is uncertain about the analog hype they could have "thrown out" a simple analog box (drum, bass, mono key) like Korg did, to test the waters instead of making surveys. I can't imagine, that Korg "throw out" Monotron without ANY market survey. That's not how business works. I mean Korg und...

If Roland is uncertain about the analog hype they could have "thrown out" a simple analog box (drum, bass, mono key) like Korg did, to test the waters instead of making surveys. Korg did it perfectly with cheap and funny boxes (Monotrons) and they went slowly upwards on the staircase. Their MS20 Min...

Re: Proof that Roland are indeed insane.

And we're not (as some put it) mad that they're not re-issuing the Jupiter 8, its that Roland is doing everything f**k wrong. I could care less if they don't make a reissued Jupiter 8 (though it would be cool). But they make these Jupiter 50 and 80 things and pass them off as the newest and greates...

Re: Proof that Roland are indeed insane.

Roland are probably in a situation large companies occasionally find themselves in -they are too big to react efficiently to changing markets and are managed by ego's who believe they fully understand the market -that they influence the market. It could be a situation as simple as an upper manager ...

Re: Proof that Roland are indeed insane.

Roland is not insane; they only hate to make enormous amount of money on reissued analog synths! There's no proof that would actually happen. And as I've said before, if Roland thought there was money to be made in reissues they'd reissue Boss pedals like the OD1 and CE2, for which there is a...

By the way, in my world they were the Masters of the Analog.

Re: The obsession for the Analog

Let's all log out of VSE for a week. Please...stop drooling over s**t, and press record and create something. Why is everyone compelled to get caught in this cycle of justification, and comparison? Because analog is sooo organic if you have the ears to hear it, LOL. Thanks to Korg for saving us fro...

Re: The obsession for the Analog

You need at least ONE analog synth/source for that silky organic sound but that's it. I have a very good hearing and I'm often disturbed by the "plastic" digital sounds, especially on VA synths, too many frequencies are filtered away at the DA converter no matter how good it is. Just pick one analog...

Re: New analog boxes from Korg?

@ atlantida I came up with these numbers quite a bit upthread but I'll repost them here. At the time I wrote this I was unaware of the difference between paraphonic and polyphonic --so my math here reflects production and sale cost of a paraphonic 6-voice Keys based synth with a keybed. As I unders...

Re: Why the V-Synth is the best thing Roland ever did

I'm not trolling, lol, but in my ears the V-synth sounds extremely "plastic". I had one (the V-XT version) and I tried to love it but I just couldn't. The D50 part of it sounded better than the V-XT DSP engine and also the Roland JD 900 sounded much better which I have at that time. For me it was th...

Re: New analog boxes from Korg?

Some funny maths. If 2 Volca keys (3 voices) cost 150 USD each then a new Polysix would cost a little over 300 USD[...] You're missing around four VCFs and VCAs in that equation... You know what "equation" I used? I projected it from the Korg Monotron versus Korg Volca Keys! The Monotron's cost was...

Some funny maths. If 2 Volca keys (3 voices) cost 150 USD each then a new Polysix would cost a little over 300 USD, lol. OK, add some extra circuitry and options so we land at 500-600 USD for a Korg Poly-Analog.

Pity that the Volca Keys is delayed, it's so hard to wait for that candy, lol.

Re: new to synth! any recommendation?

Hm, if you like the eighties sound it would mean a used analog synth, like a Roland Juno 60/Juno 106. Or a Poly Korg/Polysix. The trouble is that all these sweet sounding synths often have some problems like faulty chips (Roland Juno 106) or battery leakage (Korg Poly/Polysix) Also you could check o...
