Re: Korg MS-20 Mini

Something to consider: As of last week, Sweetwater had 400 pre-orders for the MS-20. They're just one retailer. Now think of the amount worldwide that are on order. Do you really think Korg have factories capable of meeting that kind of demand at the ready? I don't! I'm not surprised in the slighte...

A short answer: transistors cost just too much nowadays, like 10 USD for 5 pounds of semiconductors, resistors.

Re: Family shootout: sound of Motif Classic rack vs ES rack

Never had a Classic, I did own the ES6 keyboard and now own an XF6 keyboard . So many people loved the Power Grand patch from the Classic so Yamaha included it again on the XF  That supports the idea that to some ears, the Classic sounds better. Especially since piano sounds are the first th...

Re: New DSI Mopho 4 Voice Synth Announced

Looks and sounds good but in synth world 5 is the magic (and logical) number as someone else said to get a fat accord (a triad and two basses in octaves, minimum). Nevertheless, it's cool enough to buy one if you need analog stuff.

Family shootout: sound of Motif Classic rack vs ES rack

Hi guys! Because of some private problems I've sold my Yamaha Motif Classic rack and now I bitterly regret it, can't even find one for sale now. (I've sold it for about 360 € here in Sweden, can't pay more than that) History: Maybe a year ago I was thinking to make an upgrade and I bought the ES rac...

Re: Editing sounds on a Yamaha PLG-150 AN board

Many thanks for the reply, I guess it should work well. I also see now that there's a "PLG-150 AN set" option inside the AN1X editor.

Re: Editing sounds on a Yamaha PLG-150 AN board

The AN1x-Edit program for Windows can edit the PLG150AN board, also the AN Expert Editor . No Mac support, no official support past WinXP. Get editors here Ok, thanks for ansver and the programs, I've downloaded them. Are you really sure that the AN1X expert-editor program can make a "handshake" wi...

Editing sounds on a Yamaha PLG-150 AN board

Hi guys! I would like to ask the PLG-150 AN owners if the board can be edited with an advanced AN1X editor ? I know that the PLG AN comes with its own editor and also I know that there's another one I once upon a time used with my AN1X. I've sold the synth and I'm looking for the plug-in for my Moti...

Re: How would a JD990 sound without the Vintage card but...

Aha, I see! I've checked and it seems that I have to make notes on a paper about what waveform were used from the card and then look for similar stuff from the ROM-memory. I just don't know yet how it would react to the absent Vintage card...I mean I would hope that the synth OS itself would search ...

How would a JD990 sound without the Vintage card but...

Hi guys! I just wanted to test one thing with my JD990 but the Vintage card is stuck and impossible to remove via the hatch. The test: How would the patches on the Vintage card sound after I saved many of them to a RAM-card AND then remove the Vintage card? Vill it still sound using other wave data?...

Re: AN1x vs Latest Crop of VAs

The little AN1X is the best synth I ever owned. One could use this alone via multitracking to make whole albums and only replace a few track with another synth. My only small complaint that sometimes/some programs sound "plastic"; if only it had a built-in analog filter...I had a Roland V-XT and it ...

Re: Coffee spilled into the synth - what to expect?

Great lesson there! lol If I were you - depending on time/will - I would open the synth and clean the keyboard/contacts. Recently I got a Yamaha AN1X; I always open my used synths after purchase...and it was full of coffee rests, lol, so I cleaned it out and also cleaned and resoldered some circuits...

Re: Roland JD 990 Sysex Dump TO the rack?

Halleluja, it works! I did the same thing like earlier but now I tested to scroll through the internal voices to see if the sysex dump came in...and yes, as soon as I switched to another voice I saw that the sysex dump rewrote the internal patches WITHOUT showing a single warning or a "process bar/m...

Re: Roland JD 990 Sysex Dump TO the rack?

Thanks for the suggestions! I have to add that I made the sysex dump from a Ram card (bell voices) to Cubase...and from Cubase I want to load it back to the internal memory...that's why I would be able to immediately see if the original internal patches were overritten with the bell voices. I set "M...
