Agree. Definitely put some SR16 samples in your ES-1.

If you can handle working with samples, the Korg ES-1 loaded with samples of any drum machine you want (they are all easily findable on the internet) will do you, plus give you a really nice sequencer and lots of manipulation capabilities. It's what I wish I had as my first drum machine.
