Re: New Elektron box

The track buttons can be assigned for insert effects.
I am pretty sure you can also sequence at least 6 external midi channels with it.

Re: New Elektron box

I am pretty sure it will be great. I love the Elektron boxes and bought one after one over time. MD and Monomachine are no-brainers, Octatrack is a little bit flawed in user experience, they just wanted too much. To the guys talking about SID sounds: The monomachine is perfect for this kind of sound...

modulargrid.net - new online rack planner

Hi, everyone who is interested in building a modular should check out my new online rackplanner on modulargrid.net. I tried to build a HTML5 webapplication which should fix some of the shortcomings of the old flash based modularplanner which hasn't been updated for a long time. Main features are a c...

Re: Poly Evolver vs Prophet 08

The digital oscillators of the PolyEvolver and the possibilities to move through the waveforms via the sequencer are great!

Re: best compact synth for around a 1,000

Would a DSI Evolver be a good choice? No polyphony. This would be a one note trance hit. Evolver is a great addition to an existing electronic setup but not the one and only synth you need. Another modern classic you should check out: Clavia Nordlead 2. One button per function, great layout, easy t...

Re: hardware midi grid sequencers

Octopus and Nemo are probably the best dedicated hardware sequencers.
I would also mention the Elektron Monomachine. It has 6 Channels for sequencing external Midi gear, a great arpeggiator and the automatization of Midi CC. But on the downside you can not see all channels at the same time ...

Re: Pad Sound in Streets of Philadelphia?

I was told by Kinny Landrum (who played the keys on "Twin Peaks") that he used both a D-550 String sound and a MKS-70 of his own devising to do the string patches. He was also using a Prophet T8 as master keyboard, and sometimes used it for string patches, but not much. A D550? Wow, I never was int...

Re: Pad Sound in Streets of Philadelphia?

you should be able to get pretty close to the sound with what you have. try opening a string sound on the virus and rolling off the top end with the filter. a bit of chorus, kind of slow and not too much. Hey, I hope to get similar results with my existing gear. Buying synths is fun, but I get a ma...

Re: Favorite Synth for Bass Sounds

I can compare only what I play on a regular basis with: among matrix, nordlead, virus and polyevolver the voyager is the best bass synth in my opinion. While the others synth play nice the voyager excels in terms of depth and full sound. I don´t use the the matrix for basses very often, I have the f...

Re: Rank synths based on best presets

However, best patch ever is the OvertureCK on the Virus C. Awesome swoosh saw padness. Lovely! Wow, the Virus has thousands of sounds, but exactly this one, OvertureCK, is also my vote for the best preset on any of my synths. It´s so good I even don´t dare to touch any knob in respect of the progra...
