Re: Poly Evolver vs Prophet 08

Isn't the PEK a bit more expensive than the P'08? I know when I bought my P'08 for $1300, I was also looking at PEKs and they were going somewhere around $1750-$1800. Any reason for that? Or just more rare on the used market perhaps? This was probably a year or so ago when I bought mine...

Great examples of synth bass, and tips on how to achieve

I've always struggled to perform synth bass lines as nicely as I would like to. I thought finding really interesting synth bass examples, sharing them and discussing ideas/tips on how they achieve the quality of sound, what they used and perhaps what they did to the bass afterwards in the mix to get...

Re: New Squarepusher---is Shobaleader One really a band?

That video is quite awesome. his bass playing, i don't believe, will ever become un-shocking to me in terms of pure ingenuity. They seem like a mix of Daft Punk and Space - like a modern version of Space I guess you could say. He said in the interview that they'll tour next year with some more relea...

Re: Aggressive synths?

I would definitely say an Evolver, and also throw in Virus C. I have the Indigo 2 with Virus C engine, and I can get it quite dirty, gritty and/or aggressive with just a little bit of effort.

A Fizmo can be quite aggressive too if you allow it.

Re: New Squarepusher---is Shobaleader One really a band?

Hmm...he has made statements that is a real band but with the stage names and masks I guess it comes down to whether they actually do some live performances, eh? this much is true, and i've read a few times now he plans to take this album on tour...hopefully so, i'd love to see it. i finally ordere...

Re: New Squarepusher---is Shobaleader One really a band?

From what I remember reading, it is really a band...it is comprised of some guys he had been using to perform some of the squarepusher material live at one point or during some special concerts, if I'm not mistaken.

T.V. Synth Spotting

Anyone else notice there were two synths on new t.v. episodes recently? A microkorg xl was featured pretty prominently on The Office this week. This past weekend on HBO's East Bound & Down , there was an unidentifiable synth being played by Stevie (possibly THE greatest t.v. character in at least 10...

Re: Suggestions for next "digital" synth buy

You could try a DW8000. I have had an SQ80, and now use an SD-1 plus the DW8000, and they compliment each other very well without sounding overly similar.

Access Indigo 2

Here is a demo to show off what the Access Indigo 2 is capable of doing, with very little tweaking I might add. The drums are EMX1, the bass line is from my Prophet '08, and everything else you hear is from the Indigo 2. and yes, this is close to trance-like dance stuff, a style I absolutely hate......

Re: Alesis Fusion vs Yamaha Motif vs other workstation

That definitely depends on what you want to do with it. I personally have had a Motif 8 for almost ten years now, and it has never failed me once. Incredible machine, very sturdy...it has seen a lot, and still looks to be in damn-near perfect shape. After ten years - just a few knobs are a little wo...

oh yeah no no, no time for syncing video and audio...i hate the entire idea of syncing audio/video to begin with, so I definitely would like a video camera with audio input.
