Re: Best idea I've had lately....

I should I have clarified - I meant single a oscillator in conjuction with VCF/VCA/MOD/etc....as opposed to stacking oscillators/syncing them. Its really a sound I hadn't spent time with, until now.

Best idea I've had lately....

I gotta say, I've recently reached sonic bliss by utilizing just a single oscillator for sound design. Yup, less is more.

Re: Video clips from "classic" movies featuring electr

Speaking of those synth cues, do we know which of Howarth's lovely choice in devices functions as the heartbeat theme sequences? Its before the emulator stuff, so it must be either the Prophet 5 or 10, or the Avatars? or all of them sequenced together? i just bought that version on itunes and am lis...

Re: Video clips from "classic" movies featuring electr

Ennio Morricone's soundtrack for John Carpenter's The Thing (1982) is a true classic, I particularly like the "heartbeat" main theme. [bbvideo][bbvideo 425,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25_MNd-RDa8[/bbvideo] The opening synth cue, the one heard before Morricone's excellent main theme kicks in,...

Re: Most physically attractive synths

Yup, the Jupiter 8 is definitely gorgeous. I also do love looking at my Prophet 5 and Voyager Old School. Although I've decided to let it go, the D-50/PG1000 combo has some physical allure to it. My newest love affair, but haven't seen in person yet, the JX-3P/PG200 combo is definitely easy on the e...

Re: What is your favorite pad synth?

Haven't found my 'favorite' yet, but I really liked what my Juno 6 could do pad wise. Shouldn't have let that one go! Currently, I'm working with a Prophet 5. Its great for just about everything, but so far not 'the one' pad-wise. (But I'm still experimenting!) I also recently bought a D-50/PG-1000 ...

Re: John Carpenter appreciation thread

Any idea how they recorded any of this stuff, specifically the EFNY/HII productions? Are we talking direct signal > console > tape, or were the SCI's and ARP's amplified/mic'd in a room? The reverb on both of these albums is huge!

Re: Control Voltage Attenuation

Thanks.

So I fooled around with that last night. When I'm attenuating in this manner, the Voyager is now in tune, but my the sequence is not playing back correctly. Rhythmically its correct, but now the progression of different pitches is now reduced to just one pitch.

What am I missing?

Control Voltage Attenuation

If I'm trying to attenuate the voltage coming into the pitch jack of the Voyager OS using the CP-251, are these the connections I need to make? Pitch source > cp251 attenuator in cp251 attenuator out > pitch in OS Background: MFB Step 64 outputs CV 1V/octave. Voyager OS pitch in is calibrated to .7v...

Re: Minimoog Voyager Old School - thoughts or experiences?

I'm a current owner. I've had mine for about 2 years now. Its really an amazing piece of hardware, super well built. I've not had one single issue with it, and its last on list of maintenance worries in my collection. (Heck, its not even on that list!) The keyboard action is my personal favorite ove...

Getting back on topic; here's Alan Howarth's opening music from the low-budget flick "The Lost empire" (1985) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZGx5Dvzw9c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3xFBCwqFMQ&feature=related (better quality) Main instruments used: Sequential Circuits Prophet-5 & Prophet-10 w/Po...

Re: Voyager OS/MFB Step64 Tuning Issue

Also, while I've got you, I cannot seem to get the midi sync function of this little thing work. Per instructions: 'MIDI sync can be activated/deactivated by pressing and holding PLAY while switch the MFB-STEP64 on. The left digit will read E when external MIDI Sync is selected.' Well, when I do tha...

Voyager OS/MFB Step64 Tuning Issue

So I've got a MFB Step 64 hooked up to my Voyager OS. I cannot get the two the speak in the same tuning. I've got a sequence programmed on the Step64 where all the steps are tuned to one note 'C2'. The Voyager plays that as an 'A' what am I doing wrong? It seems I've read in a couple places that thi...
