Re: Synthy CHRISTMAS Songs Thread

Frankincense from the album A Proggy Christmas. This is very creative (ignore the video). Lots of synth in this:

Re: beginner modular synth buying question

Take a look at this 5u size entry level system from Synthesizers.com. This is a system that includes all that you would need to get started, assuming that you have a keyboard with MIDI (with this system there is room to expand):

Re: Looking for inexpensive bass synth

If you're on a budget, look no further than the Novation Bass Station 2. This synth is a great all around performer. With two oscillators and a sub oscillator, this machine can make some crushing bass. The Bass Station 2 can be had used on eBay for around $350. It is a feature packed versatile synth...

Re: Thoughts on the Roland JD-XA?

LOL. Good one. Roland should have The Emperor endorse the JD-XA.

Emperor: "You need the Roland JD-XA for your pitiful little band."

Re: Thoughts on the Roland JD-XA?

Thanks for the input. It would seem that I should do what some of you have done, find a music store that sells the Roland JD-XA and take it for a test drive. It would seem that many who have actually tried out the JD-XA really like it. Many of the complaints have to do with the physical appearance o...

Thoughts on the Roland JD-XA?

For the first time in a long time, I have the financial wherewithal to purchase a new synth. I'm looking at the Prophet 12 and Roland JD-XA among others. What I would like is a synth that is capable of making unique sounds. I am not looking for a synth that can recreate standard gigging sounds (pian...

Re: Best synth basslines of all time?

The best synth bassline of all time? Well, that isn't subjective, is it. If you want to be objective, the best synth bassline is the one in this Devo song. The bass carries the entire song. In the verses, there is nothing but synth bass, drums, and vocals. Good speakers or headphones are a must: htt...

Re: Arp Odyssey

Can anyone point me to some audio examples of the softer side of the Odyssey? Does it exist? With a bit of reverb, the Odyssey can sound very nice when it is "singing." Listen to this example. The Odyssey kicks in at 0:13: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vk82GuIE2dY That's also on Odyssey at the be...

Re: Korg to release ARP Odyssey

Is it just me, or do all of the Korg ARP Odyssey demo clips to date suck?

Is it just me, or does the MS-20 mini sound way better than what we've heard in these Odyssey demos?

My guess is that the Odyssey clips to date don't do the synth justice.

Analogue Solutions Nyborg-12

The British synth manufacturer Analogue Solutions has just introduced a new analog mono synth called the Nyborg-12. Two or more of these can be combined to increase polyphony:

The word on the street is that Moog will be releasing their own recreated ARP Odyssey?

Did anyone hear about that?
