Re: New stuff from Roland!

The Electribe will sequence an external synth. Barely. If I remember correctly, my er-1 would only send notes on steps that played a drum note. So it really couldn't be used as a sequencer that well. Maybe the other 'tribes are different, or maybe I was just using mine wrong. I didn't keep it long

Re: Air Drumming Reaches A New Level!

How hard would it be to hit the right drum? I would be afraid people would use this while driving. I know people who air drum on the road

Re: How often do you use hardware live, if at all?

If i played live, I would probably use a computer to sequence my Blofeld, drums, and to control parts of my modular. I haven't wanted to play live yet, because I am more into experimentation. One day, down the road, I may do a music/light show, but I'm pretty far away from that point because I haven...

Re: Reason, Renoise, Fruity Loops or other?

I used to sequence hw in fruityloops. It is a great sequencer, but recording sucks. Its a shame too, because I preferred the layout and workflow of it over the other daws I've tried. Fl's Edison is a joke. I sequenced in Fl on one computer, and recorded in reaper on another. It was clumsy, but now I...

Re: Starting up a dotcom modular

I don't have any advice, as I am less familiar with dotcom, but congrats on the decision to start a modular. I started modular with euro about a year ago, and it has vastly improved my knowledge about synthesizer theory

I agree, the Poly 800 can make some interesting sounds. It has character. I've always kept mine around

I saw your second reply, try the lfo thing. Not all synths will have those parameters, but im sure you will be able to find one to use with fl

Re: Understanding the synthesization of these particular sou

I gave it a listen. Are you talking about the lfo? It just sounds like an lfo that is delayed. Set an lfo with a second or so of lfo delay (don't think about a delay effect, im talking about the parameter that controls when the lfo turns on after the note is engauged) on a couple of square waves. Yo...

Re: Understanding the synthesization of these particular sou

@ :50, if you are referring to the synth counter-melody to the vocals, that would be made with a couple of square waves (maybe experiment with pulse waves of varying widths, but no pulse width modulation). The trick to this sound is the Amp's EG has a slow attack and instant release. So the oscilla...

Re: Roland SH-201 vs. Gaia

I have been making songs on synths for years but I am just starting to make/learn about making sounds. I got an SH-201 and it seems geared towards making your own sounds. I was thinking about selling it and getting a gaia. Someone told me that they think the SH-201 has better sound (more raw and st...
