Re: Sampler for Live Hip-Hop Performance

From Muffs: This is the shady part: in order to load your own samples onto the SD card, they have an "included" editor that lets you build your kits, change midi data etc.. the only problem is there is no editor. not on their site, not in the package, nowhere. There's a few threads floating around o...

I knew it couldn't sample, but I want to use the pads to control my main sampler. Just a mix-up of words I suppose

Re: Akai MPX8 Sample Player

They're now available everywhere for $99. Not bad but I'll be waiting until the Ebay music retailers are selling B-stocks for $69 or so Are they available now? All the sites I looked on said it was still on pre-order. I want it for its pads as much as I want it for its sampling. I'm getting so tire...

Re: New analog boxes from Korg?

A Juno-6 would be polyphonic, I believe. There isn't too many paraphonic only synthesizers that I know of. You can look at this way: say a synthesizer has 6 voices and you strike 6 keys in rapid succession. 6 individual notes would need to sound that each has their own filter, vca, and envelopes to...

Re: soft synths and quad cores...

Multi-CPU configurations work fine with most DAWs. A 'quad-core CPU' is, after all, just four professor cores on one die (usually with a shared level 3 cache) so to the operating system, two quad-core CPUs is practically the same thing as one-eight core CPU or four dual-core CPUs. The 'dual socket ...

Re: soft synths and quad cores...

Just save up and put together an i5 or i7 machine. I rarely push my i7 to its full capacity, and unless you are planning on using very cpu hungry softsynths, its just overkill. I use a few additive synths that are rather intensive, and where I used to hit limitations, I rarely do with my i7. Don't b...

Re: Akai MPX8 Sample Player

I was wanting to buy one but the more I look at it, the more unappealing it becomes. The 30MB limit is kind of a turn off. Streaming longer samples was one of its highlights in my mind before I saw that. For $99 new though, it isn't too bad

Re: Must liquidate hardware for more CPU power. Which ones?

I would get at least an i3 with 4 gb ram. I currently use an i7 based setup and have not had many limitations. I am a FL user, and I used to hit limitations quite often with my other computer which has an i3. The i5 is probably the best choice though. You should consider updating the power supply, d...
