Re: New Elektron Machine
c**p. I basically had little interest in this before a week ago, but I asked on a different forum about what makes Elektron stuff so great. And now, after watching videos of the different devices, I want the three most recent ones, octatrack, a4 and Rytm. I think I'd like to Rytm first. Just sounds ...

Just got a Micro Q- would Sysex Librarian work to update it?
Hey everyone, Just snatched up a Micro Q from eBay, and I'm super excited to try it out. The seller doesn't think he has the latest software in the system. I've already found it on the website, and it seems like it's the version that removes all the restrictions. If I'm using a Mac, would the best w...

Re: Moog Sub 37
I think I just don't like that it's all in the grey/black/brown scale. The LPT had those blue buttons to brighten it up.

Re: Moog Sub 37
Can't that guy wear a shirt?
I'd love this if it were my first Moog (and not to rain on anyone's parade), but I gotta say, it's not nearly as pretty as the little Phatty tribute was. Maybe because it's all grey, black, brown, and yellow. Hoping the standard edition is a little cooler.

Re: Akai Analog Drum Machine
Everyone starts out as a "bedroom [insert title]". And if everyone buys these, then you know what, THAT becomes the sound of 'modern music'. See access synths.... See ableton mixes.... See NI Massive..... etc If people like it, people use it, they make records and those sounds become the staple... ...

Re: Polyphonic Workhorse Synth -P08 or something else?
Whoops, actually meant to post this one... but nonetheless, it'll be nice to play something modern, knobby, and reliable, and I think it sounds great. I don't need it to be bassy or anything, I have a ton of monos.

it's the new microkorg I'm thinking. every "bedroom producer" will have one.vinyl_junkie wrote:Sounds like a CR-78 and although I usually like cheesy 70's cocktail drum machines, do we really need another one... The only selling point of this I can see is "BUT IT'S ANALOGZZ!"

Re: Polyphonic Workhorse Synth -P08 or something else?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpYfuUX9hVM Thanks for the opinion guys. I was watching this video yesterday and thinking of how I don't really play any of my other synths like this, at least yet. I started as a piano player, and this guy is awesome. So I think I'm sold, just a matter of finding a ...

Polyphonic Workhorse Synth -P08 or something else?
I'm thinking about getting a nice knobby workhorse synth in the next few months. I keep coming back to the Prophet 08 - I've wanted one for as long as I can remember, but it was too expensive for me before. I'm afraid it overlaps too much with my Tetra and Mopho, but I think I would enjoy it more be...

Re: Moog Sub 37
They both look good. I don't see any overlap between the two. Now the question is, for me, if you own a Little Phatty, and you own a Mopho and Tetra, are the Pro 2 and Sub 37 really worth your money? I think the Pro 2 probably is, as it's the deluxe Mopho with digital oscillators. Seems to have a c...

Re: Am I ruining my synths by letting them get too hot?
What you guys may or may not realise is that Capacitors are rated to tolerate specific maximum temperatures. This can be anywhere from 10ºc to 200ºc Sure most likely your room is within this tolerance, but it can be a crapshoot, some synths particularly older ones, if they were cutting costs they w...

Re: Am I ruining my synths by letting them get too hot?
So, one vote for "ruining" and one vote for "it's fine". I wouldn't say the room is especially humid, it is insulated so there's no condensation happening overnight or anything like that. I guess I'm more worried about the components.

Re: Am I ruining my synths by letting them get too hot?
So this is in the "attic" of the garage, the roof space? Well it can get pretty damn hot in roofs, especially if their in the sun. I have not idea about heat and electronics, but I can imagine humidity would cause corrosion and plastic could warp if it got hot enough... It is the attic, yes, but I'...

Am I ruining my synths by letting them get too hot?
I keep my synthesizers in the space above my garage, and I live in Pennsylvania, so the summers can get pretty warm. The space has an air conditioner, but I only run it when I'm there. Assuming the synths aren't sitting in direct sunlight, are they in any particular danger? I have new and old synths...
