Re: Things you've bought in a car boot sale/ garage sale

This summer I lucked into an EHX Memory Man Deluxe for $5 US. It was the original version from the 80s. I didn't know what it was when I bought it, but I figured it would be worth the buying just to play around. Once I got it home and ran my synths through it I knew I had struck gold. I also found a...

Re: New Solvent Tracks w/historic CS5

Somehow I'm to blame for HIM hijacking the thread and turning it into a moderator bashing session. No, not at all. I'm to blame for hijacking this thread. I take full responsibility for it. And I wasn't moderator bashing. I raised a concern about a specific pattern of behavior that relates to moder...

Re: New Solvent Tracks w/historic CS5

Your response is troubling. You didn't acknowledge the problem and you did nothing towards resolving it. Instead, you issue a defensive jab: "go start your own forum", then dismiss my concern as utopian, and top it all off with another jab to block the conversation: "everyone back on topic". There a...

Re: New Solvent Tracks w/historic CS5

Sorry, I couldn't let a thread about such a cool synth project end on such a sour note: Nannerfan, regardless of your feelings toward Matt and Kim (not familiar with their music myself) or the gear they choose to use, V301H is entitled his/her opinion without such harsh criticism. ^^ This is what's...

Re: New Solvent Tracks w/historic CS5

Yeah, I seem to recall a whole CD somebody put out like 2 years ago featuring one "classic" synth only for each track. I think you might be referring to Benge's "20 Systems". I purchased it with high hopes. It has a nice glossy booklet enclosed with the CD. Lots of good photos. But the "songs" are ...

Re: New Solvent Tracks w/historic CS5

"Curtains" sounds great, especially considering the sound source! Very impressive. My CS-15 sounds nothing like that. I started an all-CS15 song a few months ago but got defeated by tuning issues. Looks like I need to buck up and take another shot at it.

Re: Is It Just Me?

It's common knowledge that vintage synths are unreliable. A blanket statement such as this is neither correct nor endearing on any level. Take for example the Alesis Andromeda; hardly considered vintage. I'm sure you've heard of stability issues. DSI machines; I'm sure you then know about people wh...

Re: Is It Just Me?

I'm baffled by the suggestion that vintage synths don't have a reliability problem. I've had problems with most of my vintage synths. I purchased a new Polysix back in the day. About 10 years later some of the keys stopped working. A few years after that the battery leaked onto a circuit board and c...

Yeah. Minerva is available. Just go to Covariance's website to order it. I haven't gotten around to buying it yet, but it's in my future.

Re: Studio Workhorse: the 2011 thread

My workhorse is Dimension Pro running in Sonar 8.5. Most everything I record uses that. I'm in the middle of a big project and am just loving the sounds and variety. Oddly enough, I spend a lot of time obsessing over and playing my hardware synths, but I just don't get around to composing and record...

Re: Missed it by *this* much

Sounds like a fishy sale. It might be for the best that you weren't able to participate in it. The price was so low that there must have been something wrong with the situation. It could have been stolen.

Re: Dave Smith Sold Me Some Bad Weed and I'm Pissed!

Well said Mr. Frenzy! About half way through reading this posting, I had to quickly check the date to make sure it wasn't April Fool's Day. I'll add that the operating system for the Prophet 08 offers three different modes of behavior for the pots. If you don't like the way the pots function, then t...

Re: Turning your JX-3P into a pseudo-Jupiter

If he's doing those mods for the JX-3P then I would love it if there would also be mods for the Juno-60 that would give portamento, unison detune, and a second envelope. :beg: Another guy is doing an upgrade for the Juno-60. It's called Minerva and will be available in a few weeks. It has MIDI, uni...

Re: Yamaha CS-30

Very capable machine, and lots of fun to tweak. I got mine from modeless a few months ago and had Ko do the mods before shipping it out, the switches ended up going on the back just cause I didn't want to take away from the look. Ko did mine also. It was a year ago and it was the first time he had ...
