Re: Resurrecting Old Brands

Agree there was no need to be rude, but I thought tekkentool's use of the photoshopped "FAX machine smash" image from Office Space was quite entertaining.

Re: Turning your JX-3P into a pseudo-Jupiter

Just got a note from Murray requesting payment for my order (upgrade and accompanying chorus modification), which will then ship. Also listed the serial number of my particular kit.

Re: Let's Dissect Geddy Lee's Use of Synthesizers; '82 - 84'

Did Rush ever perform "Tears" (from 2112) live? If so, what did they use for the Mellotron part? Tears is such a great song...one of my all-time favorites. I checked a number of sites that track artist setlists for concert tours, and did not see any stats indicating they've ever performed it on the...

Re: Vince Clarke - 'The Cabin'

I am very grateful that upon seeing that room full of all of the best synths ever... instead of envy, I just felt stress. At the point at which I had the most analog synths I've ever had... it was stressful. Knowing I had all of them and that I wasn't playing them all and that all of them were agin...

Agreed, my condolences. Personally I think they've swung the pendulum too far in favor of the buyer and it's going to come back to bite them (ebay, that is).

"Clicky" keys?! I for one wish all transport controllers used keys from mechanical keyboards. Such a satisfying click to hit play. Far better than a rubber dumpling or a plastic click key with no travel whatsoever. Positive tactile feedback is indeed a wonderful and very useful thing. Today, howeve...

And I'd be leery of sending $7k to someone with a feedback score of 5. Intriguing unit though.

Re: What are you buying yourself for Christmas ?

Vacuum de-soldering station. I'm in the market for one of those... which one are you getting? Related to the de-soldering thing, I'm getting myself a Tenma solder pot; should arrive tomorrow. You fill the well with solder and let it melt, until it's even with the top (or slightly above). Then you l...

Yes indeed, Paia is a good source to check out also. My first synth back in 1977 was a P4700-J kit. Looks like the company is still doing well...John Simonton, RIP.

Re: Just How Picky Should We Be With eBay Items Recieved?

Personally, I would have a problem with this one. "Excellent working order" means that all functions work, so the release and ensemble I/II switches not working is a nonstarter right there. The rest of the description attempts to portray that the unit has cosmetic issues only, nothing to interfere w...

Some of my courses have/will relate to the topic at hand but I'd like to get my hands dirty with electronics and try to make or do something. Hey, welcome to the forum! First, I want to highly commend you on your plans to get into actually building some stuff. It's a trait that unfortunately seems ...
