Re: What synth (s) you own but haven't played for over 1 yea

Yamaha DX1, my freaking huge and unwieldy Fairlight CMI, Kawai K5000, Alesis Andromeda A6, Ensoniq Fizmo, ancient Prophet 5, and my dumb old Synclavier. And my Kurzweil K2600xs. Nah, just kidding, I don't own any of those.

Beach Boys self-titled album

I have a CD copy, and I got the cover signed by Mike and Bruce last year (unfortunately, I'd have preferred the other two survivors but what are ya gonna do). Anyway, I find that the backing vocals seem overly processed and was wondering: since EVERY SINGLE track lists a Fairlight in the credits, co...

Re: Let's play a little game...

For the record, my picks as of right now (in no particular order) would probably be: 1. Roland D50 2. Yamaha DX1 3. Kurzweil K2somethingorother (must have sampling option) 4. Moog Taurus I 5. New England Digital Synclavier II 6. Alesis Andromeda A6 7. Korg---either DW8000, DSS-1 or Wavestation 8. E-...

Re: Advice for programming SY77?

This might come handy: http://www.xs4all.nl/~galink/sy-prog.pdf If you are a total noob, you picked the wrong synth. Editing is infinetly easier with SounDiver but getting a copy isn't entirely legal if you are using a PC.. I'm pretty much a total noob, but I do have a pretty high IQ so once I'm fo...

I'd be happy with just the first 5 though...
You and I have similar tastes...1, 2, and 6 would almost definitely be on my list.

Advice for programming SY77?

Hey, I'm a total noob and haven't been able to accomplish too much programming my Yamaha SY77. I've bought voice banks online and recorded with it using a preset voice and a voice from a voice bank, but I really don't know how to program. Does anyone have any advice, or any patches/recipes they'd ca...

Let's play a little game...

Okay, I'm a newbie but please don't let that put you off too much. I'm also a broke college student, so unfortunately this is pure fantasy, but I still think this could be fun. Here are the rules: The Synth Genie comes to you and says he will provide you with ten synths. Price is no object, but the ...
