Re: modding/upgrading the ESX

Are there other groovebox/sampler thingies that give do the "Motion Sequence" trick of recording the motion of the knob?

I need to upgrade from the ES-1 because its SmartCard drive is shot, making loading samples a chore. The Machinedrum probably does but $. Any other similar machines?

Re: Mono Evolver KB vs Prophet 08

I just recently got the Poly Evolver Keyboard (PE) after having had the Mono Evolver module and the Tetra. Not quite the same thing but...Before selling the Tetra I compared its oscillators with the analog ones of the PEK and Mono module and found them to be very similar. In fact, the DSI FAQ states...

Re: Waldorf Blofeld Keyboard : most underrated of 2009

Agree that a tabletop synth allows for a larger front panel, but the Mopho/Tetra/Blofeld are fairly knob-poor already - the display and knob layout could remain almost exactly the same and there'd be room to spare on a 2U rack unit. Probably you could fit the DSI stuff into a single rack space. May...

Re: Waldorf Blofeld Keyboard : most underrated of 2009

Don't forget that the Waldorf also lets you store sample and run them through the filters, effects, etc.
So, in terms of features, it has a competitive edge.

Re: Waldorf Blofeld Keyboard : most underrated of 2009

The Mopho, Dark Energy, Evolver, Mono Lancet, Tetra, Virus snow.. all would easily re-engineer into 19" housings and we could put them alongside our MIDI/audio patchbays, external effects processors and audio interfaces. Plus, as a 19" rack, there's only a front panel to design rather than a whole ...

Re: Waldorf Blofeld Keyboard : most underrated of 2009

it's the closest thing to a gay synth... On a side-note, my Blofeld has some very faint marker residue on it because some f**k sales-person thought it would be a good idea to write the price DIRECTLY on the synth with a pink marker. Anyone know how I could remove it? I can upload a pic if needed. P...

Re: First Analog Synth : Prophet 600?

it offers lots of LFO options. Hmm, don't know if I'd say "lots". It's just triangle or square wave routed to pitch, pulse width, and filter. That's pretty standard. Although the Poly-Mod section does add the filter envelope and Osc B as modulation sources, with Osc A pitch and filter cut-off as de...

Not pretty but their Tonecore housing is robust. In fact, overly heavy.
Nice pedal though--for anything from nasty fuzz through glitch drums to Nintendo.

Re: First Analog Synth : Prophet 600?

I'd say it's an awesome choice for a first synth if you can check it out for issues. All old gear can develop issues from time or mishandling--Moog, Prophet, whatever. The tone is deep and dark with bite, the arpeggiator is good times, you have a huge number of presets for a synth of that time, and ...
