Re: just me? or do youtube demos all suck

Editing video isn't as much fun as playing synths. :) But, yeah, I don't have much use for most performance videos. If I wanted to see someone playing I'd search for piano or poly-at synth videos. The Jexus videos are a good complement to his written reviews, but I mostly want to know how intuitive ...

I love rap with that boom- bap beat. stuff like KRS One - Sound of Da Police, Nas - NY state of mind or Cannibal Ox - The F word.

Re: Analog synth/sequencer

DSI can only MIDI sequence external. The poly evolver in combo mode has enough oscs that you can can do quite a lot, but it's not fully analog. The upcoming DSI Tempest might suit your needs better especially for live use. I think the Doepfer dark time + dark energy and MFB (Schlagzwerg?) you were c...

Re: Recommendations for First Synth

I know you said no MIDI, but I highly recommend reconsidering. In part because the piano sound in that budget makes it hard. And most synths don't have exceptional key beds! If real piano keys are something you're used to it can be a shock. Ideas: Kawaii K1 (61 decent keys, two mod wheels, + joystic...

Re: Korg Monotribe ?

Yeah, it's not the lack of MIDI that bugs me it's the lack monotron interconnectivity! I woulda paid more for a super noisy "toy" modular.

Re: Korg: Radias vs MS2000

It's weird I just found out you can link 2 ms2000s, but not 2 radii. I'd consider getting another for 128 steps. Radias drums are a great starting point. They do have the same filtered sound as the rest of the Radias and mix better with some effecting. Run them through your LP and if it suits your c...

Radias does NOT sound like a dark energy, but they mix well imo.

Re: Starting over from scratch

If you have't already made a purchase.... can the original vsynth (I know the GT can) work as an audio interface? If so, it seems like a good price for an all in one. It has niceish keys and the synth/sampler side of it could give you some backup against a Live crash live. Plus, d-beam, but you'd ha...

Re: New guy here! A couple questions I have...

I would love to create psychedelic kind of music. But not the kind you would think. I would like to create sounds that would alter the minds in ways that people have not heard before. being that you're 18 yrs old, you have a LOT more listening to do - you've only heard what an 18-year old has up ti...

The Dignity of Labour stuff is great and noteworthy, but IIRC they didn't focus much on that if at all.

Re: Blue synths?

The body of the kawai k5000s is very dark blue. I really wish they had used the same plastic for the black keys and to a lesser extent the knobs and buttons. I like the silver (aluminium?) , but it would have been interesting if the metal part of it was slightly blue tinted too, like a more subtle e...

Re: What laptop should I buy for soft synths?

Get one step under the best especially if you buy a windows specific machine. You are going to pay a premium for the very bleeding edge and it won't be worth much in a few years, but there will be something better and cheaper than what you have . I own both osx and windows machines and I prefer osx....

Re: Chairs for Synth'n

Standing is good and those sit/stand stools look neat, but mostly I lay down (it's okay becasue I work out and take walk breaks ). I was recently thinking about trying to find something like a massage table at an incline, but I'm not sure about arm movement. I sometimes use a yoga ball and it's...
