Re: Akai MPX8 Sample Player

So I guess I'll eat my words. lol Just snagged one of these on an impulse because it was really cheap. $65 shipped, like new condition. I suppose it will be a good sound module after I load it up with a few basic XOX kits and various manglings of the amen break. I mean, $65, can't really pass that u...

Re: How do you get over the feeling of wanting to try so man

I face the same dilemna when it comes to women and the answer is the same for both: It self regulates. :( Seriously though? I live in the middle of nowhere so there's no big music retailers within, say 100 miles of me. And there are very few people in my area that are really into synthesizers and sa...

Re: Monotribe in CV mode is awesome, BUT...

2) The MT seems sooooo quiet. I run the MB through it to utilize the filter and the MB seems to over power it so easily. Any easy mods to maybe boost only the MT's oscillator and not the audio in signal? I'm not 100% sure what you're asking. But try running the audio out of the MT directly to your ...

Re: Monotribe in CV mode is awesome, BUT...

Thanks for the responses guys. Well, I must say, that is disheartening that even the midi mod won't fix it. :( And I was just thinking that maybe somehow, since the MT gates the audio in signal, the clicking would be due to the MB's signal starting slightly before the MT let it through. By that logi...

Monotribe in CV mode is awesome, BUT...

So I tracked down the right adapters and everything and I am now using my Minibrute to play my Monotribe. Love it. I had a MT shortly after they came out and quickly grew tired of not being able to actually play it, so I had sold it. I'm so glad I bought another one after I got my MB, it's like a wh...

Re: Sampler

I love to talk samplers and I have some time to kill, so let me give you a rundown of the ones I've used extensively. And Hugo76, I saw your question about the 909 in the other thread and thought I might just reply here to avoid derailing that one. It really depends how much you want to be able chan...

Re: Akai MPX8 Sample Player

I had high hopes for this thing when I first heard about it but it really sounds like a crippled piece of kit. I think instead of this, I'm just gonna pick up an old Roland MS-1 and a couple of memory cards. That was my first sampler and I loved it at the time. Seems like it would serve a similar pu...

Re: Cool LFOs

The MC-909 LFO has 15 different waves with morphing. SIN: sine wave TRI: triangle wave SAWU: sawtooth wave SAW-D: sawtooth wave (inverted) SQR: square wave RND: random wave BD-U: a waveform that lets the LFO output waveform rise to the reference level and holds it there BD-D: a waveform that lets th...

Re: which hardware MIDI sequencers have the best interface?

It's probably overkill in some aspects, but I find the MC-909 to be an excellent sequencer and they can be picked up for peanuts these days. The big screen makes editing a breeze. Also, with my Minibrute, all of this can be transmitted as CV (I sequence my Monotribe in this way). So if that's a dire...

Korg ESX-1 Electribe - Knobs/Arp unresponsive

Hello, I picked one of these up on Ebay for very cheap with the understanding that the arpeggiator and FX knobs would not be working. As it turns out, ALL knobs are unresponsive except for the main volume, tube gain and input level (all located in the upper left). Oh, and the FX select encoder works...

Re: Boss SP-505

I miss my 505 and will probably buy another one in the near future. If you get a 64mb card to use with it, you get a ton of sampling time and can hold like 500 samples or so. 4 track sequencer is nice (no midi is output from it though, if I recall). Pretty simple to use but quite sluggish when it co...

Re: SP-202 and 303

I just picked up an SP-202 for $50, but only because it came with a 4mb 5volt Smartmedia card. That alone is almost worth the price. The 202 is crippled, imo, because the only way to set your start and end points is by ear. There are certainly plenty of other reasons as well, but that, to me, is the...

Re: Yamaha Rs7000 vs. Su700

The SU is extremely fun, IMO, and the effects are good. I love the way this box sounds. It's the easiest sampler I've used when it comes to capturing loops on the fly, as long as your timing is good. BUT The load times border on what some would call "crippling" and that's IF you have the SCSI board ...

Ensoniq KT-76 has it as well. Not sure about the KT-88, but I would assume that it does.
