Re: Synth Carnage

I can't stop looking at that Indigo. It's like a Dali painting.

I've been lucky but then, I don't gig or anything like that so my risk is somewhat less.

Re: M-Audio Venom $200 at Sweetwater

Wow, that seems like a steal. I've been looking for a board with an audio and midi interface built in and it actually sounds pretty good in the videos I've watched.

Thanks for posting this here!

So now... how do I justify this?

Re: Gear Trading Thread

I posted a thread in gear wanted and then saw this thread here, so I apologize for the double post. I have a Yamaha ASIB1 scsi expansion, looking to trade it for either the AEIB1 output board or a suitable IDE/SCSI bridge that will allow a CF reader to drop into my SU-700. ...Oh h**l, who am I kiddi...

Re: The SU-700 Internal Storage Options Thread

I don't have an SU-700, but I've always wanted one. Look really cool. It is a very fun machine, I'd highly recommend it. :) I opted for a cheap floppy emulator (like $14 iirc) so maybe that's part of the problem. I'm gonna try to find some time this weekend to put it back in and have another go at ...

The SU-700 Internal Storage Options Thread

Hello :) I'm not sure how many people here have one of these but for those who do, what do you have in yours? I have the SCSI expansion (finally) and I have an external Zip100 for it but my experience with these drives has been less than wonderful to say the least. This is my 4th one. So I'd like to...

Re: Heart/Brain of your setup?

I find my MC-909 to be a great centerpiece. I have an Axiom 49 running into the MC into an old non-usb MOTU MTP (best $30 I ever spent). This routes my midi signal out to everything else. I record output into my SP-808 or SP-505 because they have digital in and a ton of sample time available for thi...

Re: Studio Simplification

While I don't have nearly the gear pile that a lot of people do, I find that it's enough to be distracting. I'm in the process of buying a house right now, so will finally be able to make a permanent area for my stuff soon. But before I go through all that effort, I plan on breaking my gear up into ...

Re: sample sequencer needed

@robotunes, Is it just me, or is it sounding a bit like the Grainshifter on the ESX, only more controllable? And I couldn't agree more. Half the fun of hardware for me is the experimentation (I'm sure most here would probably agree as well). Nothing like letting an old dog (or machine in this case I...

Re: sample sequencer needed

...sample machine gun on hundreds of waves. that with some delay should sound sweet. I tried it out tonight and it's pretty cool. LFO and BPF with SMG is my favorite so far. But repeatedly tweaking the SMG and Random Modify could probably keep me in the zone for hours. As you predicted, the delay w...

Re: sample sequencer needed

Octatrack does look like it would be amazing, wish I lived someplace where there was a music store to try one out. :( Just seeing that one vid with the Amen chopping has pretty much sold me on it, if I just had the cash to throw down. Nice to have a power user of this machine around to represent it ...

Re: sample sequencer needed

If the MC-909 engine is anything like the MC-505, it should have ring mod. On the MC-505, it's buried in a parameter called Structure Type which is in Common Settings. The manual should have a list of how each tone mixes into each other based on each Type. There's also feature called FXM (Frequency...

Re: sample sequencer needed

I can't say anything about the Octatrack, having never touched one yet (as much as I want to!). But I own quite a few groovebox samplers and I have to say that the 909 is my favorite by far. As I see it: Pro- --Big screen makes editing a piece of cake --16 track sequencing means you can run onboard ...

Re: Ensoniq KT-76 / 88, Startup Issue?

Thank you sir, that sounds like quite an undertaking, but very sound advice. *rimshot* :D

Might have to put that off until I can get my courage up. I still get pretty nervous when it comes to getting into the guts.
