MS2000R <- MS2000BR ?

Has any owner of a Korg MS2000R tried loading it with the sounds intended for the MS2000BR? I'd like to expand my MS2000B to 8 voices, but MS2000BRs are hard to find, while MS2000Rs are plentiful. If the only difference is the paint, the voice line up and the XLR socket, then an R can be made to sou...

Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?

@plikestechno: You are a lucky essohbee. Don't take it for granted or the wish fairies will come for you and even Fox Mulder won't be able to explain to the police how your body got flayed and twisted up like that at the same time. The cheapest synthesizer I ever bought was just recently, a circuit ...

Re: Connecting all of your synths w/o a mixer

I recommend MOTU MIDI Express and 828 Firewire audio rack modules. They work with every OS, give you a software mixer as good as a hardware one, and are fairly cheap on eBay right now. If you get one of each there's eight instruments connected to the computer by one USB and one Firewire cable. Or yo...

Re: Added value of a real Korg MS-20 over the software emula

Someone should notify Korg of this ^^^^. People buying the controller by mistake thinking it's the synth. It happens often enough that it should have their attention... There is another Legacy MS-20 on eBay right now with a starting price of $900.00, and located in Audubon, NJ of all places. Will a...

Quasimidi Cyber-6

Just out of curiosity, does anyone else in North America have a Quasimidi Cyber-6? I've been able to find only three YouTube videos that feature it, and any mention of someone using one is universally European. Most notably Klaus Schulze and Jean Michel Jarre. Mine is 220V, definitely intended for t...

Re: Novation Super Bass Station and/or Nova?

That's also a good point, and I do care about such things. As I said, I have a Pulse+. I just got in a Red Sound Darkstar XP2, which, on close examination, provides just about everything that the Super Bass Station does, plus a whole lot more, and it does it with 8 voices, and has a joystick for fan...

Re: Novation Super Bass Station and/or Nova?

Yeah...that's a good point. Money for cool factor. Have I become that jaded? Eh, let somebody else have it. They'll wish they had a Pulse+. 8-) Anyway, I don't have any voids. All that's left is assembling it all into the gigantic mega brain of musical world domination. Pinky, did you bring the spoon?

Novation Super Bass Station and/or Nova?

Since the Nova is most of the SuperNova which descended from the Bass Station which begat the Super Bass Station, is there anything the Super Bass Station can do that its cousin the Nova cannot do? I have a Nova and a Waldorf Pulse+, but the Super Bass Station just is cool by its nature and I think ...

Proposal for another database

There are a lot of new and currently available devices worming their way into the Explorer. I propose the current Explorer be split into two: The Vintage Synth Explorer and the Modern Synth Explorer. Any truly vintage equipment will continue to be listed and added to the former. Any equipment that i...

Ensoniq ZR-76 worth it?

Does the Ensoniq ZR-76 have anything really unique about it that makes it worth hunting down? Aside from the Perfect Piano, which is in the Sounds of the ZR QROM which I have, and the sketch pad, which can be reproduced with an external computer sequencer. I have an ESQ-1, a FIZMO, and a HALO. The Q...

Re: VSE - Good trader/seller thread

I recently bought a perfect condition Microwave XT from kvnvk for a can of beans and three pictures of Marlene Dietrich. Well, it was a bit more than that, but not by much. If he had anything else I was looking for, I'd buy from him again in an instant.

Re: What was the most expensive Synth you ever bought?

Hartmann Neuron. I feel better now, seeing the price of catching the modular bug. I would like to try John Bowen's Solaris, but don't feel like shelling out ahead of time to wait six months for delivery only to find out I don't like it. Same with the new Korg Kronos. Seems like an amazing amalgamati...

Re: Getting ready to purchase new synths.... Advice?

Your best bet is the Polar and the Supernova. It's the best combination of all around sound from rompling to analog to pure digital for anything from dance and trance to orchestral and new age. Use them together or singly with the Polar as a MIDI controller for the Supernova. Then, when you get more...
