Re: V-Synth vs the Alpha Junos in... "Battle of the Hoovers

Do you have a chorus effect applied to your hoover sound? The "what the" patch uses a heavy amount of the built-in chorus on the alpha juno. If you turn the chorus off, it doesn't sound nearly as fat.

It's not the reverb. I can hear that. It's the harshness in the upper frequency. It just sounds like too much resonance on the filter. That's the main difference.

Re: V-Synth vs the Alpha Junos in... "Battle of the Hoovers

The general sound is there but it still sounds digital i.e. harsh and brittle. Here is my example on my alpha juno-1. Forgive the bad keyboard playing, I just threw it together real quick. http://www.mediafire.com/?jwi5b89s6gvck69 I'm sure you could get it closer by adding some more meat in the lowe...

Re: Hi Im new and need advice

Well if you don't have any synths and want a general purpose one, I'd look for a newer one that's multimbral with multiple outs. That way you can essentially write entire songs on a single synth. I'd look at something like the novation nova desktop or the supernova rack mount. The supernova rack is ...

Re: NI Massive - anyone?

I posted this in another thread, but here's an ambient soundscape I made with it last night called Snowform. http://www.organissimo.org/pub/mp3s/Snowform.mp3 One instance of Massive and some modulating Moog Voyager bass, both played in real time into the computer. It's definitely going on my "next ...

Re: xiosynth25 vs. alpha juno 2

The alpha junos really are a killer deal. They can still be had for $200 or less. I only paid $150 for mine. I'll probably end up getting another one since they're so cheap.

Re: xiosynth25 vs. alpha juno 2

I second the alpha juno. Yes, it is more limited but I really love mine and I've owned a number of synths, yet my alpha juno is still one of my favorites. They have a warm sound, they can make some really fat basses , and they are just a great general purpose analog synth. Don't worry about not havi...
