Nice work! I love the bassline in expectations. What did you use for that sound?

Re: New Arturia something at Messe?

I'm hoping it's a poly, but I have my doubts. I guess we'll see. It's great to see the analog revival with so many great options out there for monos, but there's so little out there in the analog poly world.

Re: UVI Emulator 2, The Beast, Fairlight etc. questions

Here's one I'm looking into. Might be worth a look if you already have kontakt. It's only 15 pounds. http://www.hollowsun.com/HS2/products/vintage_samplers/index.htm The UVI stuff looks nice, too but I have a hard time justifying their steep prices. You'd have to get in on a promo deal as was alread...

Re: VSE March Competition: DCO Synths!

I might contribute to the contest, though I have been having something of a writer's block lately.... :( That's all the more reason to do it! Seriously, one of the biggest cures to writers' block is to give yourself a deadline and finish something. It's better to finish a less than perfect song tha...

Re: SQ80 screen and buttons freezing

I was hoping you'd respond to this thread as I saw a thread from a while back where you seemed to know your stuff concerning the SQ80, so thanks.

I will try what you suggested in the next few days when I have a chance to take a stab at it and let you know what happens.

SQ80 screen and buttons freezing

My beloved SQ80 started acting up recently. I noticed it started to happen after I was using it one day and the power went out and came back on. It was plugged in to a really good power conditioner at the time so I wouldn't think that significant damage was done to the board. The problem may have ju...

Re: VSE March Competition: DCO Synths!

I'll try and put something together for this one. I've got a busy month ahead of me though. I'm all for this comp but I agree that the next theme should be something different. Either a use any 1 synth of your choice, or something entirely different such as finding some sort of musical theme that wo...

Re: SOFTWARE REVOLUTION

I find myself going back to software now for several reasons. For one, I'm broke as h**l right now and can't even afford new plugins, let alone analog hardware. Two, the recording process is so much more streamlined with the software as you can have multiple instances of a particular instrument. Thr...

Re: VSE Winter Hybrid Synth Competition: VOTE HERE!

80s poly would be fun as my alpha juno is the last synth i own that i haven't done a contest with yet. However, I'm cool with whatever theme you pick, be it a gear theme or a musical theme. I'm going to let the two of you guys work that out. Maybe you can brainstorm and come up with something totall...

any challenges you faced Time. I met the original deadline. Yes, I know. You're not happy about me offering more time as you've mentioned before. I could have been a hardass about it but this isn't a high profile contest with huge prizes and I really wanted to see some more submissions. I'm sorry t...

Re: VSE Winter Hybrid Synth Competition: VOTE HERE!

Great job everyone. A VERY close contest this time around! I did Miami Dreams. I'd like for all the contestants to answer the questions from the last contest, so what you used, how you used it, any challenges you faced, and how did the making the song change your understanding of your synth if at al...

Re: Prog/Electro House: Stupid Idiot

That technique is known as side chain compression. It's actually quite easy to do. If you look it up on youtube you'll get lots of tutorials on it. You're basically making certain parts (or the whole track) duck in volume whenever the kick hits. Good stuff! Really like the second track 2. Is that a ...
