Re: VSE 2014 Song Contest Theme

Sorry for the lack of correspondence. I've had a bunch of crazy stuff going on. Anyway, my song is nearly finished. At least as finished as it's going to be. I just need to finish the final mixdown. Who else out there is working on anything? Anyone else? Otherwise, it's just going to be the three of...

Re: VSE 2014 Song Contest Theme

I may flex on the deadline a little. I like to stick to things, but if pushing the date out a week or so gets more submissions in, that's better. Besides, I started my song in Pro Tools but then I transferred everything over to Reaper and I'm having to learn a brand new DAW so that's put me back by ...

Re: VSE 2014 Song Contest Theme

Yes, Stab. That would be just fine. I want to include as many as possible while still staying within the rules I've set. Please submit something if you have the time to do it!

Re: VSE 2014 Song Contest Theme

Ok then, use only the digital waveforms. I had no idea how many waves were available on the digital oscillators or what type they were. With that much flexibility though I don't see why you would need to use the analog oscillators since you can still have basic waveforms such as saws and squares. C...

Re: VSE 2014 Song Contest Theme

By allowing that you're basically bypassing what makes the evolver a hybrid. I'm going to say only use the wavetable oscillators. Otherwise, you're just using an analog synth. But to be fair, can someone tell me about the wavetable oscillators on the evolver? Are there your basic synth waves like sa...

Re: VSE 2014 Song Contest Theme

How are the tunes coming along? Mine is developing nicely I think. How many people are participating? I hope there's more than 3 submissions :?

Re: VSE 2014 Song Contest Theme

Well, just do your best. I've been really busy this month and have only started a sketch that I'm not overly proud of. I'll have something in by the end, it's just a matter of how good it will be. I just hope we actually get enough participants for this theme. Also, I have the soundcloud page setup ...

Re: VSE 2014 Song Contest Theme

Onboard effects count, yes. So you may have two types of effects. Using onboard overdrive counts, too. However, you could overdrive a synth through gain-staging to create it without using an effects processor, just like you can duplicate audio tracks and repeat them back at lower levels to create de...

Re: VSE 2014 Song Contest Theme

Can you make a post of all the official rules? I've been messing with the Sq80 sequencer, and I'm almost ready to try some s**t. I've been updating my first post with all the rules, but I'll repost them here for people to see easier -Use 1 hyrbrid synth and make a song with it. Any synth with non-a...

Re: VSE 2014 Song Contest Theme

Alright, I'm off to my start on my song today. Having lots of fun so far. I'm changing one rule: 2 effects are now aloud. Sorry, but I can't live without my reverb and delay on this song I'm working on. I liked the more minimal effects approach last time, but I'm having too much fun now with both ef...

Re: VSE 2014 Song Contest Theme

The contest starts whenever you want. I thought people would be starting already to give themselves some extra time. All that matters is that it gets in by the deadline, start whenever you want. I haven't set up the soundcloud page just yet, but don't let that stop you from getting started. Which re...

Re: VSE 2014 Song Contest Theme

I think digital synth through a different analog synth or separate analog filter was nixed. It was. Multiple times. Yes, this. I will make that more clear on the first post. I'm going to say no vocals either. This should be focused on the tonality of the synthesizer alone since the whole point is t...

Re: VSE 2014 Song Contest Theme

I haven't decided on whether or not to allow vocals yet. Your voice is another instrument after all. What does everyone think?

The modular thing is fine so long us you're using digital or some sort of wavetable oscillator that's a part of your modular rig.

Aren't they great? You don't even need to add the gated reverb to the snare, it already has that awesome Phil Collins sound :D
