Re: In whose synth studio would you like to be fly on the wa

Any era of the following three... Would be fascinated to see exactly how they worked. All had a totally unique sounds.

Muslimgauze
Patrick Cowley
Bruce Haack

Agree with calaver, the composing, mixing aspect would interest me far more than the gear (plus I've already looked most of it up ;) )

Re: KORG ESX-1 - Loose Master Volume Knob - any solution ?

Opening the unit is very straightforward, only the display is a bit tricky. watch out , lead free solder there, be careful when desoldering the pot or you can ruin the pcb. If you happen to order spares, I would be delighted if you could sent me one :) I hope this helps Can you elaborate a bit on t...

Re: KORG ESX-1 - Loose Master Volume Knob - any solution ?

I have this exact same problem. It starts to cut out the left channel when I turn it now as well.

It looks tricky to open the esx-1 up. Any tips?

Re: Assault On Precinct 13 x 2

Take the percussion from the first one, pad from the second and a new bigger bass with a tiny bit more release on it I was thinking the same thing before I posted them. I was pretty happy with the bass on the second version at the time. Probably does need a bit more power as it's basically the cent...

Assault On Precinct 13 x 2

Two cover versions of John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13 theme. Be interested to see which you might prefer. Or both lacking? Any ideas welcome. ;) Version 1: https://soundcloud.com/planetaryjazz/assault-on-precinct-13-theme Version 2: https://soundcloud.com/planetaryjazz/assault-on-precint-13-...

Re: esq-1 patch midi

2 years later and I thought I'd try this again. Still no luck. I'm able to receive a bank or patch into midiox, but unable to send it to the esq-1. When sending a bank I get a soft reset - system error 01 message, and sending a patch doesn't seem to do anything. I'm using a generic usb -> midi cable...

Re: dw-8000 keyboard

Just picked up a dw-8000. Sounds super. :giveheart: The action is quite weird. It feels like a dx7 or ax-80, but then again the semi-weightedness makes it feel a little odd. Hard to describe, but perfectly playable. But yeah it does clack. It's like having someone playing percussion along with you i...

Re: dw-8000 keyboard

As long as it's not 'the world's worst keyboard' - from some random online reviews, I don't mind too much.
According to one of the comments on here, it was winner of keyboard magazines 1987 keyboard of the year!? :ugeek:

Re: dw-8000 keyboard

It's weird to me that there isn't (wasn't?) a consensus on the basics of a nice keybed. I guess they were still figuring things out in the 80's. I'm probably wrong, but It seems like aftertouch comes at price, similarly with esq-1 (nice) vs. sq-80 with aftertouch (not as nice). Even so, my juno 6 fe...

dw-8000 keyboard

Like the sound of the dw-8000 and from my reading it says the keyboard is so-so. Too clacky? Too spongey, what's its problem? Any way of improving it?

I don't have any keyboard at the moment with midi out so it would be my main playing keyboard.

thanks 8-)
