Re: Scored a Juno-60

Just a follow-up question is the memory storage on the Juno-60 going to be eventually doomed? I hear bad things about it. The original memory ICs are still available NOS, though they are pricey at 30 bucks for a set. From looking at the data sheets, it appears that more modern equivalents should wo...

Re: Synthesis 3011

3011? That's a long time. Think of where music was music back in 1011 to get an idea. I predict nobody will give a s**t about synthesizers anymore and will have moved on to something else too far removed from what we have today to even call it a "synthesizer" anymore. Synths will be things people se...

Re: Gear Envy.

When I see a setup like that, I think "Wow, that's a nice collection." I don't think of it as a nice setup for making music. It's just overkill for that. People that have amassed huge collections of gear like that are collectors, and they own their gear for the same reason Jay Leno collects cars. So...

The Radium 49 is a complete piece of s**t. Horrible, horrible midi controller. Do not buy one.

So it's a midi controlled flanger/churus. Yup, nailed it. 8-)

What bug crawled up your a*s? Are you this much of a dickhead in real life, or do you just post inflammatory s**t on the internet becasue it makes you feel more important?

Re: casio cz 101vs alesis micron

These two synths are completely different in every way. They are nothing alike, except for the fact that they are both tedious to program. Just the fact that you would ask this question tells me you don't really know what you want. Do you have any other synths already? The Casio cz101 is a phase dis...

Re: Now I can play my cz101 at night...

Thanks for the info. So it sounds like the cz101 is already wired for power, it just doesn't use that in the passive display? When you say 'jumper these 2 pins' is it obvious where they connect on the CZ? Please forgive my ignorance, this sounds like a project that A) I could pull off and B) I coul...

Re: Now I can play my cz101 at night...

Please, any more info on the install would be greatly appreciated! Since there seems to be a lot of interest in this mod, I'll post whatever info I can. The LCD board in the cz101 has 14 pins. Most of the backlit screens sold on ebay have 16 pins. The extra 2 pins are for power and ground to the ba...

Re: Newb question about using a mixer!

So here's the thing, I get the vibe that a mixer can really simplify layout and connections and consolidate everything, cause right now when I am wanting to work with various things and record different instruments, it's not impossible but the moving of cables and switching things in and out is a m...

Re: Best synth for handling rhythm samples?

Why do you insist on getting a synthesizer? Wouldn't a dedicated sampler be much better for your purposes?

Do you have some DIY links to this mod? Did a search but nothing showing how to, or where to buy the display and its part number. I have a CZ101 just itching for a bit of blue :D Cheers, Graham **EDIT** just posted a fraction after you did - thanks for the info! I don't have any links with instruct...

Re: Now I can play my cz101 at night...

Excellent! I've seen this mod a few times on various CZ models. I'd like to do this to my CZ3000 some time. Is the LCD anything in particular, or just a "regular" 16x2 LCD? It's just a standard 16x2 lcd (HD44780). I just bought the cheapest one I could find on ebay. If you want to do this mod, you ...

Now I can play my cz101 at night...

I love the Casio CZ series synthesizers, but all of them except the cz1 and cz5000 suffer from having dim grey screens with no backlight, which makes them nearly impossible to use on a dark stage. You can buy backlit LCD displays all day long for 3 bucks on ebay, so I decided replace the dim grey LC...
