Re: New Fooger MF-108M Cluster Flux

From the highly obscured pic it looks like it has a "rate", "amount" and waveform selection knobs with 2 foot switches, so probably not a bode frequency shifter. The "M" stood midi on the 105M, so I assume it's the same here. They are missing a good chorus/flanger from their core lineup, so I'm gues...

Re: POST ANY INTERESTING EBAY / CRAIGSLIST LISTINGS HERE!!!

Some guy is trying to lease his "vintage" korg ms2000 for $250 a month on craigslist. LOL!

Re: Shruthi-1 vs PAIA Fatman

The sidekick was just recently announced. Apparently, there will be boards for sale soon, but last I heard it was undecided whether or not there would be full kits made.

The best way to keep up with what's going on at Mutable Instruments is to check the forums periodically.

Re: recording hardware synths

i wish i could record my hardware synths like i do my softies.. i wanna use one synth to make a full track and i wanna have timbral control of each part of it, throughout the session start to finish.. Well, this is pretty much the whole reason people ditched their hardware for softsynths in the fir...

Re: Why analog?

Some people would say why buy a virus when you can just use software and a midi controller. Others would insist that buying expensive commercial software is a waste of money when you can just use freeware and get similar results. They would all use the same types of argument that you (the OP) made a...

Re: DI Boxes for dummies...

It necessary running from a stage to sound desk though, right? As other have pointed out, this is not an issue of impedance, but distance. In most cases you can get away with just running an unbalanced line because the synth signal is hot enough that noise usually isn't an issue. For long distances...

Re: ensoniq sq80 plugin

The sq80 plugin is one of the closest emulations of a hardware synth I've ever heard. The only others that come as close are the d16 stuff IMO. I think the sq80 even beats the pants off of the Arturia and Gmedia stuff as far as authenticity goes. Of course, those companies are emulating fully analog...

No, you don't. What do you think the line inputs on a mixer are there for?
BlackGnosis wrote:...to convert high to low impedance

The output of a synthesizer already has a low impedance.

Re: Favorite phaser pedal ???

My favorite phaser I've ever used is the really large Maestro PS-1A. It's a big boss of a pedal, you can't stomp on it but you can get the most beautiful watery, subtle and "just right" phase shifting I've ever heard. http://www.wingspreadrecords.com/maestro_ps1_page.html That said, I have a modifi...

Re: impedance?

What tim and cornutt said is right. I've seen people spend way too much money tackling impedance matching issues that don't really exist. I don't know how all of these wrong ideas about impedance matching got started. The only thing you need to worry about when plugging a synthesizer into a guitar a...

Re: Favorite Analog Software Synth?

Another vote for FXpansion's DCAM Synth Squad. By far my favorite. A lot of people really dig LennarDigital's Sylenth1 and NI's Massive. I'm not sure why they're not getting any love here. They are extremely popular elsewhere. 2 freebies worth getting are Ichiro Toda's Synth-1, and TAL Noisemaker. I...

Re: Shruthi-1 vs PAIA Fatman

Shruthi-1 is a monster. I does have some aliasing due to it's dirty 8-bit oscillators, so that may be what you are hearing. Some oscillator waveforms have a lot of aliasing and some have less and it varies a lot over the key range. You have to pick and choose based on the patch. Some would see it as...

Re: For those running synths through pedals

 You realise the output of a DI gets plugged into a preamp? Like the preamp on the 002 that the OP is using? Look, if you disagree, that's fine, but don't patronize me. I know what I'm talking about. The OP specifically said he wasn't using the preamps on 003 anymore because he got a RME ...

Re: For those running synths through pedals

I have this problem all of the time. It's a major pain in the a*s. A DI box won't help much. You need some kind of preamp. Even a cheap guitar boost pedal will do the trick. I disagree with the suggestion about the re-amp boxes, though. They are overkill unless you are having a specific impedance mi...
