Re: Korg M500 Micro Preset

Easily my favorite Korg synth I've played.

Slap a lil pedal on there and you're all good. I really enjoy flipping thru the octave ranges on that synth more than most.. has a nice sound.

Re: Reliability of synthesizers

Akai AX-80 is one of the only synths that had problems.. but I bought it off a guy in an industrial band that used it as a MIDI controller. The knob always drifted.. so I just taped some Atari game tokens on it for weight.. works great. Of course the far right membranes were not working.. re-soldere...

Re: D-50 + PG1000 vs JD-800

True.. the JD-800 is much more useful/diverse.

For me, one of the simple pleasures of the JD-800 over the D-50 is using the FAT SQUARE wav and just making very edgy heavy short/tight FM'ish sounds that even a DX can't do... because of the filter.

I'm not joking actually... a friend and I spent a whole night once trying to nail that sound!!

Couldn't quite figure out the chord/oscillator intervals..

Re: Roland MT32 Love

Could you please re-create the brass sound from Super Mario Karts "Rainbow Road" for SNES? And then tell me how you made it? So i can re-create it on my D-550?

Thanks ;)

Re: Analog sampler?

speaking of Laserdisc... a more odd format was C.E.D.

Analog audio and analog video.
Has a nice weird "warble" effect when it messes up/skips..

Re: what's the ugliest synth you can come up with?

The Open Labs stuff always makes me curious.. in the future, will that s**t be dirt cheap? Or somehow hold it's value?

I'd love to pickup a miko for $200 bucks in ten years.

Re: D-50 + PG1000 vs JD-800

Two of my favorite Rolands. Out of the 2 I'd have to pick the D-550. ;) For a rack synth it's very easy to program and get around once you know the shortcuts.. That said, once I had a JD-800... it was so much easier to program that it inspired me to go back to the D-50/550. I got to the point with t...
