Re: What synth have you been using a lot lately?
Since aquiring a Virus KB, it's become my favorite and most used, followed by my trusty MoPho keyboard. The Little Phatty has been mostly ignored, and might be sold to the bassist in my band soon. Hard decision, since It's my 2nd Phatty, and I swore to myself I wouldn't get rid of this one.

Re: New. Fresh. and Exciting!
Access Virus synths are all that. A new one would just pass the budget, but a slightly older B, C, or TI would work. My Virus changed the way I feel about VA. I thought I *needed* analog, but...

Re: Looking for bassy synth
Don't judge the MoPho by the desktop version alone. Until you play the MoPho keyboard, you haven't really tried a MoPho, imo.

Re: Roland SH-201 VS. XioSynth VS. Mopho
I've owned an SH-201, and still own a MoPho keyboard. Between the 2, the MoPho is much more feature-loaded, and sounds fantastic. Though I didn't hate the Roland, I didn't love it either, (sound). Hope that helps some.

Re: Roland SH-2 vs. Moog Little Phatty
Yes, a small pedalboard with some delay and modulators is a must. Adds so much color and motion. But, that would be true of either synth you're contemplating.

Re: Roland SH-2 vs. Moog Little Phatty
I no nothing of the Roland, but own a Phatty. No noise generator, true, but it has an awesome feedback loop, and can also process other instruments through it's filter. It's got all it's functions on the front panel, but true, each "knob" has several functions. BUT, so logically laid out, it's simpl...

Re: Looking for bassy synth
I love my Virus to be sure, and it is very capable. But, between the 3 I own, the MoPho gets the most use for not only basses, but all kinds of crazy sound fx. The built-in sequencer is the feature that puts it on top for me. The Phatty is also awesome, but not nearly as full featured as either of t...

Re: Looking for bassy synth
As a fellow bassist, AND a guy that loves making crazy sounds, I would suggest not worrying about a synth being monophonic so much. A MoPho keyboard would actually give you everything, (it seems from your posts), that you want. AND it's got a metal casing, which you'll appreciate over any of the pla...

Re: I want a drum machine (and a sampler?)
I'm looking at the Electribes too, so I can't offer anything there, but wanted to say- don't be overly concerned about the little tubes/valves in it. They're 12AX7's, very cheap and abundant preamp tubes, and they have typical lifespans measured in decades sometimes. Certainly several years of no wo...

Re: FX insert send/return pedal
Yeah, made in Germany, gold contacts, etc., BUT- will last a lifetime and introduce ZERO noise. The single loop version shouldn't cost that much, especially used.

Re: FX insert send/return pedal
I use the Lehle D Loop, which has 2 seperate loops and a switchable buffer. Awesome pedal. They make a single as well.

Re: Contemporary analog music
Very ambitious project, but I love the idea of using all analog gear and tape, etc. It sounds "vintage", or whatever term you wish. I only wish my band was that old school, but alas, aside from my 2 analog monosynths, and the bassists analog pedalboard, we use MIDI everything and record digitally. E...

Re: Please help on deciding on my first hardware synth
An analog mono synth such as the DSI MoPho keyboard, or Moog Little Phatty, are only limited by your own imagination and understanding of subtractive synthesis. Forget the demo sounds, YOU create the sounds you want, and if you like the 70's and 80's analog sounds, either one of these little machine...

Re: Lets talk basslines
As a long time bassist, I'm naturally drawn to playing and writing basslines on either of my monosynths. In fact, it's easier for me to come up with something new on the keyboard synth than it is on a bass guitar nowadays. And yes, the basslines are the foundation of anything else that gets laid on ...
