Re: Have a VA...Would like analog too!
Look at the DSI MoPho keyboard. For the money, I don't think there's anything else in it's leaugue. Plenty of knobs and buttons, and great sounding. Mine gets more use than my Moog Little Phatty does, if that says anything.

Looking for reassurance on 3rd synth
I think I know what I'm after, but have only been playing keyboards for a year. I'm a long time bassist who got invited into a new original band as their synth player. We play a bizzarre mix of techno/dance/prog/pop, and my ideal rig would include 3 synthesizers. I have 2 analog mono synths now, DSI...

Re: Playing Guitar Through Synthesizer (Pro~One)
Unfortunately, it's not really possible. I mean, you can play through the filter, but the oscillators and LFO's cannot be played with a stringed instrument unless you have MIDI pups installed.

Re: Moog Taurus 2
I believe the original Taurus, and the new Taurus 3 are the most sought after, and the Taurus 2 is much less so. As to value, I'd think the 2 to not be nearly as much as either the 1 or 3. Hope that helps some.

Re: What was your first Moog?
First was a Little Phatty stage I, followed closely by a MoogerFooger Bass MuRF. Last year, I bought a Little Phatty Stage II, and another MoogerFooger, the MF-107 FreqBox. A Low Pass Filter and Ring Mod will follow, eventually, along with a MIDI-MuRF.

Nice little flashback with that UK link. Once again, I follow the link, and get lost in all the awesome UK videos. I've got UK vinyl, but no record player. Sometimes it sux to live in such a digital world. Thanks for the flashback.

Re: For first analog synth, Moog Prodigy Or Moog Source?
I whole heartedly agree. Unless you want vintage for a specific reason, you're much better off with something modern and reliable. Both the Moog Little Phatty, and the DSI MoPho keyboard are excellent choices for a beginner, (which I am also, and using one of each). The MoPho brand new is less money...

Re: Beginner Appropriate Synthesizer
I would agree, a monosynth is a great way to dive in to synthesis, and a DSI MoPho keyboard is a great little inexpensive monosynth. A bit short on the keys, but like many, has buttons to shift up or down 1 or 2 octaves. The important thing is, it sounds great.

Re: Should I buy the korg R3, or the X50?
The X-50 is totally digital, lots of menu diving if you want to tweak, but sounds alright. The R3 is a synth, but won't do everything the X-50 will. I'll go out on a limb and suggest further research on the subject. Learn the differences between all the various machines that get lumped together as "...

Re: A question about roland sh201
I own an SH-201, and wholeheartedly agree with the above. What is has going for it is the price, and aside from being cheap, it's not really too great. I've played with the new Gaia, and it's far better all around, even sounds pretty good- but overall, I would much prefer a DSI synth. The MoPho keyb...

Re: does the Dave smith mopho have midi thats poly?
Another yes, and another if it's the keyboard version. Also, a MoPho keyboard can be poly-chained with a Tetra module, making the MoPho a 5 voice poly-synth. very cool stuff.

Re: Mopho - am I missing something?
Yes, stay with it. I find the MoPho has some great basses- and tons more possibilities than you'll find in any of the presets. In fact, I use the bass patches on my MoPho more than on my Little Phatty, if that says anything.

Re: New to synths. Few questions...Please help?
I agree, the Gaia would be a great starter synth. Also, you might consider a DSI MoPho keyboard, which is analog, (but with DCO's), and somewhat simpler to grasp the whole concept with. Biggest difference is, the MoPho is a mono-synth- but it's a real contender for the money.

Re: Moog LP vs Novation Bass Station Rack
Yes, very subjective, and truthfully, you should do a side by side comparison if there's any question. I know for my ears, there's no substitute for that Moog vibe, and the Phatty has it in spades. I've played with the Novation, and it certainly has it's own vibe, but really, it's apples and handgre...
