Preview Of My New Album, Dark Electronic Film Score Stuff

I finished my newest album (Whitest Hunters, Blackest Hearts) last week and put up a preview of the tracks. Heavily influenced by the Mercenary Exploitation movies of the 60's-80's, I guess it kinda comes off as film score work from somewhere around '88-'92?? I used only hardware gear and every one ...

M. Akers Sanctified 80's Industrial/EBM

Hi everyone,

I just put a new song up on my soundcloud page called Sanctified. Channelling heavy 80's Industrial/EBM vibes. Made mostly with a Korg Wavestation.

Thanks for listening.

Re: Edgar Froese 1944 - 2015

One of my heroes. TD's latest CD, Mala Kunia, is really good. The addition of Ulrich Schnauss made a big difference and I was looking forward to more of their work together.

Re: Favorite use of the Synclavier?

I believe the Michael Rother Süssherz Und Tiefenschärfe LP is all synclavier aside from the guitar. There's even one on the cover! http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/3e/Sussherz_und_Tiefenscharfe_original_cover.jpg That's actually a Fairlight CMI. I see you're in Portland - if you want to c...

Re: The E-MU Proteus 1 doing John Carpenter Style

Yeah, they're a lot of fun. There may not be a lot on there that can blow you away but I always find a spot for it on a mix. 2 things I love to do with it - 1. Make a breathy voices patch with a short envelope and pretend I'm in Depeche Mode and 2. Lay a buzzy bass sample from the P1 (like the stone...

The E-MU Proteus 1 doing John Carpenter Style

Most of the demos for the E-MU Proteus 1-2 are very boring and typical sounds. I wanted to switch it up to something a little darker so I made this track using nothing but a Proteus 1. All sounds (except 2) were programmed by me. Enjoy!

Re: The Korg Wavestation Goes Retro Soundtrack

No, I just got it last week. All the patches were tweaked by me but not originally written. I came up with a few very typical wavestation patches (a million layers with a lil wave sequence running through it) but nothing I used in this track.

Again, thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it!

Re: The Korg Wavestation Goes Retro Soundtrack

Thanks!! It was an a/d, multi-tracked (11 tracks in total) and sequenced on my computer (using Logic 9), I then ran the output through my mixer into my tape player (a sony dual deck).

The Korg Wavestation Goes Retro Soundtrack

All sounds from the Korg Wavestation. I recorded the song direct to stereo cassette to give it that little extra retro film score feel.
