Re: The great thread of electronic/synthesizer soundtracks

Micke - Maybe the answer to this is hidden in previous pages but have you ever spoken with Fabio Frizzi about his gear set up in the late 70's/80's?

Re: The great thread of electronic/synthesizer soundtracks

Any idea what a "heavily modified DX7" would consist of?

Re: Roland Dep 5 vs Boss ce-20

I recently got a DEP-5 and the inputs/outputs are scratchy and cut in and out for the first 5-10 minutes it's on and then it seems to go away. A big sigh from me too. It sounds great when it works as it should.

E-MU Pro/Cussion

I have a chance to buy one of these for under $100. There's not many samples of it available on the internet other than synthmania. So, from your experience, what do you think about it? Here's the reasons I'm interested - I much prefer hardware over software. 1 Rack Space. Programable individual out...

Re: How exactly do you guys record songs with hardware synth

I run everything through my mixer and the outs go in to my computer where I record with Logic. I use Logic for everything: sequencings, editing, mixing, etc. I just have a 1-1 midi/usb cable so when I sequence I can only use one instrument at a time, that's kind of a bummer but since I'm broke right...

Re: Ridiculous eBay 'Buy-it-now' and starting bids.

A guy on the local craigslist is selling stuff like the EMU Proteus 1 for $250, EMU Proteus FX for $350, etc. I told him that was a bit absurd and he told me "They're cheaper than what it's going for on ebay." Of course he's getting his prices from one of the most egregious sellers on ebay, the hous...

Re: what are some good affordable rack mounts?

I bought a KAWAI K3m for $40 that was in excellent condition. Good synth for the price, easy to edit. Nice pads, strings, good for making atmospheric/ambient sound, can do big basses but I've never used it for that. However, (and I'm no expert programmer) every time I try to program PPG/80's Tangeri...

Re: Reliability of synthesizers

My Ensoniq SQ-80 has easily given me the biggest headaches and has spent the most time in repair and still isn't 100% functional.

John Carpenter Cover (Korg DW8k, DSI Mopho)

Welp, tis the season. While practicing on Friday I recorded an off the cuff cover of Nowhere To Run from The Fog by John Carpenter and Dan Wyman. The sounds come from a Korg DW8k (percussion) and a DSI Mopho Keyboard (everything else), recorded into Logic. http://soundcloud.com/forced-opinion/horror...

Re: Ensoniq SQ80 NIGHTMARE

UPDATE - Did a hard reset and slowed down the sysex send speed. Everything worked well on the test. Next fix = hard drive. Also, does anyone have a link for the factory patches for it in sysex? I'm worried about dl'd the bad files that I've heard about. Surprisingly, I've found the factory piano pat...
