Yamaha AN1x arpeggiator bug

Hey everybody. I'm trying to set up a split patch on my AN1x with an arpeggiated bassline assigned to the lower section of the keyboard, and a poly lead sound in the upper. Since I only want the bassline to be arpeggiated, and not the lead, I've set the arpeggiator to "scene 1" which is the bass sou...

Re: How can I get this sound on a Juno 60?

Yeah, the Juno 60 isn't going to give you that gliding effect between notes. That's portamento, something the Juno 106 could help you with (or pretty much any mono synthesizer). The attack on the notes is interesting. It's quite a snappy sounding envelope. Sounds like it could be a Roland SH-2 or so...

Re: New Knobs for the Yamaha AN1x!

Nice. I've got a set of grey Elektron knobs on my AN1x. They feel much better than the hard plastic ones it came with.

Re: Synths and You (the collection of opinions)

1) The synth that made you want to play music: I guess the first time I ever wanted to make music was when I heard "Computer World by Kraftwerk. I think the Synclavier was what they used for most of that album, wasn't it? So it would have to be that one. 2) Your first synth: MicroKorg 3) The synth ...

Re: Yamaha AN1x firmware update seeking

Does anyone know how I can check whether my AN1x has the 1.04 chip installed? I was not informed of any post-factory mods being done to it by the previous owner, but I've also never noticed any audible clicks when using tempoi synced delay. This thread has me curious.

Re: Yamaha DX7 vs Ensoniq ESQ-1/sq-80

Gosh, it's always "apples and oranges" around here. I read a shootout thread between the Juno 60 and the Polysix where someone said "you can't even compare the two, they're completely different". What??? Yes you can! They are both analog polyphonic synthesizers that are quite difficult to tell apart...

Re: Juno 6 for $620, should I get it?

Junos sound nice, but with all the new analog polys available these days it seems a bit silly to spend several hundred dollars on a single oscillator per voice with no patch storage. the lack of patch storage is what makes the Juno 6 so appealing to some. its nice to have an honest synth with a pan...

I wrote an article about the PSS-480 and that line of keyboards which I submitted to VSE, but I don't think they're updating the review section anymore. So, I just posted it on my blog.

Re: I have a soft spot for...

I also have a soft spot for the Yamaha Portasound keyboards. I currently own a PSS-480 and a VSS-30, but I have also owned a PSS-470 and a PSR-16. There's something about that gritty two-op FM sound that takes me back to the days of playing MSDOS games and Sega Genesis. Also, there is the "synthesiz...

Re: Korg Minilogue vs Yamaha Reface CS

Since she already has a legendary vintage analog, maybe you ought to look at some more obscure digital options as a way to achieve a broader sonic palette; get access to some sounds the Prophet may not be capable of. There are some lovely synthesizers in the first crop of virtual analogs that came o...

In the hands-on demo I watched on synthtopia, the Moog employee was saying it has CV-patchable aftertouch routing. That, friends, is badass!

Re: Jp-8000 vs Blofeld vs An1x vs Elka EK-22

Update: I now own an AN1x, and would like to compare it to the JP-8000. JP has a wonderful interface through which to interact with the sound. Knob per function, expressive mod controls for the left hand, and a lovely, shimmering sound full of movement and life. It is also extremely limited for a so...

SO COOL!

I hope this is implemented in the Pro-2 as well eventually.
