Re: Radiohead "Morning Bell" Electric Piano

They used that same Prophet 5 heavily on King of Limbs. They use a P08 live though.

Re: Again: Juno or Polysix?

Some really good points being made here. A few people have said that the P6 is more "anonymous". I would disagree. I think it has a very distinct character, but it is less recognizable because it is not as widely used as the Junos. Also, I'd like to add that I bought my Polysix (fully functioning wi...

Re: Proof that Roland are indeed insane.

ugh... :( I'm just making generalizations for the sake of the disussion. I realize that you can't lump everything together into giant groups all the time, I just thought it might help prove a point. Like, There are people who create music as an art, and there are people who do it commercially. But I...

Re: Again: Juno or Polysix?

Polyjuno nailed it: Polysix is mysterious. It has an x-factor. Something about the tonality I can't quite put my finger on, but it's there, and it is completely alive with feeling and expression. Beautifully musical, and has character leaking out of its output jacks. I think I'm gonna hang onto mine...

Re: R.A Moog Mini Moog Serial number #051

So my father in law finally brought his minimoog that he bought in the early 70's, as he's thinking about selling it and wanted some help with eBay. This still sounds amazing and is in fantastic condition. He knows a good deal about this particular synth and it's actually got serial number #051, wh...

Re: Proof that Roland are indeed insane.

I kinda realized that there are two classes of music: "art music", and "commodity music". Type one is something people listen to for pleasure, and type 2 is something to slap in TV ads or elevators or something to play at the bowling alley. Let's make a huge generalization, for the sake of the threa...

Inb4 virus TI3. Now with 3 more voices of polyphony and a light pink paint job.
"like".

They more likely are just releasing the TI Snow in a new shade. "Yellow Snow" it will be called.

Re: Proof that Roland are indeed insane.

It's because of keyboards like the V-Synth and this new Roland V0908-HQRS7 that people have started saying crazy, ignorant things like "synthesizers aren't real instruments". I thought that was because of dubstep Oh yeah... Are synthesizers even used in dubstep? I always thought they were just usin...

Re: Again: Juno or Polysix?

I'm very surprised that no one has mentioned Polysix's on board ensemble effect. Utterly gorgeous. Totally blows Juno's chorus out of the water. That guy who said Polysix had a bland, flavorless timbre is a bit of a nutter I think... Either that or his Polysix was broken and nobody told him. I have ...

Re: Proof that Roland are indeed insane.

Kenneth, the V synth sucks for imitating instruments, as it doesn't allow multisamples. It is great for weird, digital synth sounds, athmospheres, pads, weird sequences... Did you ever used one? No, I have not. I saw some demos on YouTube and was put off by the excessive sampling engine on the synt...

Fun Fact: Moog Music, Inc. owns the rights to the trademark "ARP". Wonder if they will ever do anything with it?

Re: Proof that Roland are indeed insane.

It's because of keyboards like the V-Synth and this new Roland V0908-HQRS7 that people have started saying crazy, ignorant things like "synthesizers aren't real instruments". Because, well to be honest: any instrument that imitates another is "fake". So, let's try not to get too wrapped up in a keyb...

Re: Proof that Roland are indeed insane.

Those of us who like to just make bleeps and bloops as a hobby are a teensy tiny market in comparison. Disagree. I think the "bleeps and bloops" hobbyists are slightly more numerous and slightly more professional than you think they are. Neon Indian. Tycho. Passion Pit. MGMT. Phantogram. Washed Out...
