Re: yamaha cs series

i think thats a good point, its all subjective anyway. the sound is very pure, so it could be boring to some people. reminds me of a 'test tone' sometimes. and plain jane makes for a great first love...

Re: yamaha cs series

i think it would cost roughly the same either way? so some may say, may as well get the 15 and save some space, and maintenance? you might gain some advantages, but you lose some things too... i think like triangle wave, glide, and pitch bend depth...the brightness fader is quite cool on the 15... i...

Re: what gives a soft synth its 'character'?

ok, so you can make many different algorithms that will each produce a slightly different sawtooth wave? and when someone makes a quality software synth, they will probably make a unique one, which creates a unique basic tone? (sorry, computers make my brain hurt... my dad was a unix geek and i deve...

Re: what next..?

yes modeless is where im looking :) thanks for the heads up tho, once i got in contact with ko i realised it made alot more sense to pay a marginal bit extra and have it pre-serviced by someone that knows what they are doing, rather than save a few bucks on ebay then have to hunt around for a synth ...

Re: what gives a soft synth its 'character'?

interesting... does this mean that the pure/raw waveforms sound the same between some/all of the soft syths? like they are all/some based off the same algorithms? and its more the massive functionality that software has, that actually 'defines' different soft synths? so in essence you take the same ...

what gives a soft synth its 'character'?

just curious, with hardware synths the physical components actually have certain character to them, different oscillators will sound subtly different when playing the same waveform at the same HZ... so what gives different soft synth different sound character?

Re: what next..?

sorry, that price includes recapping/cleaning/etc and shipping from japan. i imagine the shipping is a fair chunk of it, so i think thats in line with 700-800 for the actual synth. i expected the 101 to be a bit cheaper than this for some reason!! you seem to like the SH2 quite alot :) do you think ...

Re: what next..?
