Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

Our memory card works with anything that can take a M-128, M-256 or M-512 card. If the R-8 takes such cards, then yes, you can use it with the R-8 as well.

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

aladan: I don't think the U-220 qualifies here. It has two ROM card slots for samples, I confirmed that the card fits these slots but of course it will be unreadable, and cannot be written to.

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

Yes, since the banks simply represent different chunks of memory and each bank acts as a card on its own, you can use the completely independently for different synths. In theory, if you have synths that natively use M-512 cards and others that use M-256, you can use one M-512 card for all of them, ...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

Keen on one of these for my JD800 also. Great project! and good work reverse engineering these cards. Now if we could work out the waveform and patch card format...... that would be amazing! Well, for some synths the patch data format has been reverse-engineered, e.g. D-50. It shouldn't be that com...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

Not that you have to answer, but: Are either of you also known as synthjoe? I’ve read some great posts by him, and he seemed similarly clever, so I’m curious. :) Not that I'm aware of. ;) Regarding the testing.. Well, if baz99 can confirm that his prototype also works on his JV synth, we can be eve...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

So, I returned from dojoe's place and had some fun with uploading a couple of banks to my new memory card, and I have to say that it's simply fantastic! Huge thanks fly to dojoe again for turning this old idea of mine into reality - an affordable and simple, yet very powerful reality. When we were d...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

Headless68: Thanks for posting this on other boards as well (everyone, feel free to spread the news in other related Roland communities as well!). I won't sign up on the VG forum for a single post but here is my direct answer to the moderator there in your topic: Yes, of course there's always the po...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

Good news: The bank switching works just as expected. And yes, the cards look absolutely gorgeous! Bad news: There are some data transfer issues when writing to the cards, which lead to random bytes being transmitted incorrectly * . Right now, the card is a perfect source for circuit-bendt-like patc...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

I would def be interested in this, as most cards for my roland d110 are way too cheesy, and getting one on ebay is more expensive than the unit itself... Just to be sure, we're talking about RAM cards for patch data. "Way too cheesy" sounds like you are talking about PCM cards, of which I don't kno...

Re: Custom-built memory cards for Roland D-10/D-20/D-50

Once it is good for Roland JD800/JD990 (natively supported cards AFAIR are M-256e, so I'm not sure about the M-256d) - I'm interested. I suppose that it would be equally simple to build a M-256E replacement - I suspect it's using similar technology, but I wouldn't know for sure. Thing is, someone p...

Since savefile.com is down, does anyone still have the original patch files?
