Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

I do think that some of the cards have an identical form factor - at least the ones for the U-220 look identical to me and the M-256 card fits perfectly into the PCM ROM card slot of the U-220. Copying data would have to be done using a custom writer hardware of course, which has been discussed some...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

Glad to hear that everything is working fine! I just added the D-70 to the compatibility list. :) Too bad that the D-05 doesn't take any M-256 cards, eh? :D Since PCM cards typically require more storage, I guess you'd have to reconfigure the card to 4M to properly take advantage of that - if it's g...

Re: Help finding source of sound (I think it's a preset)

There really isn't a need to bump a thread not even 24 hours after opening it. None of these sound like particular presets to me, particularly not from the K2000. They sound more like generic analog synth sounds with a resonant filter which you can find on tons of synthesizers and can easily be recr...

If you're still pondering whether you want a card from the first batch, you should better hurry. Just saying. ;)

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

Here's also a small video demonstrating the bank switching process, and copying data to a previously unused bank ("Illegal Card") on the D-50: https://sagamusix.de/other/roland_memor ... ng_d50.mp4 [25 MB]
Maybe it's helpful to some people. :)

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

The card comes in a standard static protection bag to avoid electrostatic discharge, which you can also use for keeping the card safe while it's not in the device. Whether it can remain in your D-50 during transportation depends a bit on the means of transportation I guess; if you use a flightcase, ...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

We've come a long way... https://sagagames.de/ithumb/show/card2015-2017.jpg First and latest revision, as well as a custom, unique case that is not for sale. ;) I'm still using that first revision card with its botch wires (which doesn't work on all devices that the new card works with, in case you ...

And judging from this thread and the pre-registration signups, I fear we will already be sold out on day one. :D

It won't take much longer, but I cannot give you an exact estimation when they will be available.

Re: Kurzweil K2500 operating system bugs?

Thank you both for your inputs on removing the chips. Tekhed66, I'm afraid the K2000 PRAM option is physically very different from the K2500's PRAM2 option. It certainly looks a lot more complicated, which could explain the issues you were having with the possibly faulty remake. The K2500's PRAM is ...

Re: Kurzweil K2500 operating system bugs?

In the meantime I've received those updated chips - I managed to install 340CTLV9 but those PLCCs are so damn hard to remove even with a chip puller that I didn't manage to install the SMCTLV8 yet. I don't want to damage the synth so I have to think of a clever solution for swapping out the chip. Do...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

In theory that depends on the synth of course, but in practice all devices that we are aware of support hot-swapping memory banks, because they only access the memory card when dialling up a new patch.
They do typically not cache the memory card data or monitor the card presence in any other way.

Note that both itead and AmigaKit are just resellers - the original page with a lot of information and compatibility lists can be found at http://www.codesrc.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=SCSI2SD (hence, the thread title should read "codesrc SCSI2SD adaptor", not "itead SCSI2SD adaptor") I'm also ve...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

The storage exposed to the device is identical to that of an original card, but through bank switching you can access 16 different cards in one single card. So if a regular M-256 card can store, let's say, 64 tracks for the Roland TR-626, then our card can store the same amount per emulated card , b...
