Re: Reliability of synthesizers

I think all the synths i've owned have had bugs or quirks or non functioning features. JX3P - it's a pretty battered one, all keys still working but buttons will decide not to work every now and then, so i loose access to preset banks, the sequencer, lfo etc. Still love it though! Roland Sh201- deve...

New EP! All analog mellow sounds and downtempo beats

Free download, hope you enjoy it.
Since this is a gear forum - It was written entirely on the Dave Smith Tempest with additional helpings of Roland JX3P and a smidge of Dave Smith Mopho and Korg Monotribe.

Re: something new next month at dave smith instruments!

more hints from Pym on Gearslutz and the Prophet forum We will not likely make a synth based on the Tempest voice... we made a lot of compromises to optimize it for drums while still being affordable (such as the simple sample playback) and would want a far more flexible architecture for a synth voi...

Re: New DSI instrument!

Well done, sir. Is that just one track of the Tempest and one JX3P track? thanks dude (and others!) One track of the Tempest and a couple of JX3P yea.. re: doing drums, they're not really my forte, but I have been experimenting tracks that are almost solely percussive, so i'll post something here w...

Re: New DSI instrument!

I haven´t read the thread since I don´t want to spoil the surprise. I really had to make a huge sacrifice to get it.... I just imagine the Tempest like a Prophet 08 with a sequencer incorporated.... well the prophet has a sequencer on it, the engine's quite different to the prophet really - sub osc...

Im heading to Germany, recommend some shops/venues plz

In October, we're starting in Berlin then heading south towards the Alps.. Just heading there for a holiday with the lady but keen to nick off here and there to cream myself over the some good tunes/gear. Is there still a big scene there? I'm not big on pounding techno in supersize clubs, just kinda...

Re: New DSI instrument!

Thought I'd dig this thread up to share some sounds I worked on over the weekend. Decided to have a crack at kind of emulating the sound of modular synths/sequencers, (with some pads from a JX3P over the top). I'm pretty dam pleased with the result. I've had the Tempest for a few months now, and f**...

Cheapest here in Melb is about $1400-1500, so I have no regrets.

Re: Qs for iPad users

1. im using mine solely to sequence synths and synth apps so not very important, I intend on sussing the sampling options eventually though. 2. dont use the 3g/4g, only use it for net surfing at home with wireless 3. Alesis dock, its awesome. 4. Not for anything other than noodling around while taki...
