Redsound Darkstar...byebye

Regret it tho'...no synth deserves to be thrown away. Will never again do that.

Sir Ruff wrote:"deep bass" on an alpha juno to me is an oxymoron, the oscillators are high-pass filtered or something.
Just turn the HPF off. The Alpha Juno is very capable of deep bass. It's my favourite bass synth.

ryryoftokyo, thanks for posting...will try that out.

Re: Best synthesizer breakdowns ever (hardcore metal style).

One of my favourite modern prog rock-metal songs...Riverside - Second Life Syndrome.

Their strings/synth sounds quite romplerish.

It just sounds like the classic chipmunk-effect. It's just pitched-up, nothing mysterious or exotic about it.

Still a great song, tho'.

Re: Need a good synth for industrial

For effective industrial music you need to combine one badboy with other stuffs: Doepfer MS-404 + anything with GM drums (the first part of the demo): http://soundcloud.com/dhollmusik/gear-combi-test-4-rs-meets-ms Doepfer MS-404 + Korg Monotron/Casio SA-45/analogue effects: http://soundcloud.com/dho...

mizu wrote:thanks guys. I'll look hard for the Yamaha DX-7 and the casio CZ series!
Disagree. DX7 is a pain to program. Get yourself a synth with knobs. In your price range:

Yamaha AN1X
Yamaha AN1X
Yamaha AN1X
Yamaha AN1X
Yamaha AN1X

Get yourself a Yamaha AN1X.

Re: JX-3P or Matrix 6r?

I think I want to replace the JX-10 with a JX-3P. I hear it's got a much more "vintage" tone than the 10, which is what I'm after. But I think I've read somewhere that the Matrix 6 covers the exact same sonic range, and is better than the 3p in terms of flexibility and modulation (of course). If th...

Vermona Perfourmer vs DSI Tetra

These two synths are pretty much the only two synths in existence which match this description: http://www.vintagesynth.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=63088 But which one to get? I make (or attempt to make  ) two kinds of music: real-time cosmic-droney soundtracks and hard techno-trance. From w...

So... you don't know what DCOs are but you're against them? :? I hope this is not the point of the thread where people chime in with useless remarks. I know what DCO's are. I meant to just say The Matrix and JX-3P but in a whirl of writing ended up listing all the other knobless wonders I've tried ...

did you check out the synth finder section of the main site, and then search for stuff on ebay to get an idea of what it costs? also, isn't there a thread going on right now about the best cheap synth? check it out. good info in that thread. i'm having a hard time imagining a situation where a give...

Re: Which Synth matches this description?

Good reply, meatballfulton, cheers. Yeah, I think from what I've heard and read it's not so easy to use the Perfourmer for polyphonic drone/pad/strings type stuff. I liked the Youtube guy's drone demo...he did a good job there. The only sound-issue I might have is that so far every demo I've heard i...

Pretty sweet textures! Welcome to the forums. What all did you use to record?
