Re: To 2013 and Beyond!

A polyphonic Roland VA synth would be nice. Yeah, the GAIA is a great synth, but... 64 note polyphony yet the synth engine is only on MIDI Channel 1 and there's only 37 keys. :? How about 67 keys, tons of real-time controls (maybe as much as the GAIA if not more), 3 oscillators, multi-timbrality, ma...

Re: Good FX pedals for my synths?

Here's something awesome you can do with a Poly-61 and Distortion (skip to 3:47 to hear it): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrcsAXJGTKA&feature=my_favorites&list=FLi-u2e9G9V70ypEyRbvbhlg Man, I am SOOOO jealous of that solo! (and I'm pretty sure the wonderful musician who wrote and performed that is...

Re: how important is compression

Ignoring the flame war going on above... I suck at mixing vocals, but I would use compression on vocals just because I have NEVER heard a singer keep the same volume while they sing. Don't tell me they can do it live; there's probably a compressor on the vocal channel during live shows anyway. I use...

Re: Breaking speakers by turning off a synth

I just turn down the volume on either my monitors (M-Audio AV30s) or turn it down on my Audio Interface (Roland Tri-Capture). I have seen someone blow their Line6 amp because he was switching guitars and cables. It made a big -POP!- and a little bit of fuzz, then quit working. He was so mad he almos...

Re: Arturia to give away MinimoogV...

Do you have to be registered to get it? I would love to have the MinimoogV even if it doesn't sound anything like the original.

btw, the 21st is when a new Daft Punk release is *rumored* to come out. Just sayin'

Re: "Holy c**p" moment at 0:40

I care more about the Moog Liberation in the video than the 4 Prophets, mainly because he's not faking it on a SH-101. Is that bad?

Re: Do you align keys on your keyboards on multi-tier stands

My M-Audio Oxygen49 is too small and too light to stay in one place on the bottom of my 2-tier; everytime I play it and my GAIA SH-01 it's always off. My OCD won't allow that.

Re: Synth for Beginner Player/Live

The Venom's a ROMpler? Well then... I have the feeling I'm confusing too many people with this thread. I think he's ok with buying a M-Audio Venom and eventually a M-Audio Oxygen (49 or 61). We want to keep with M-Audio because they are cheap, but reliable. I'll be teaching him basic synthesis as we...

Re: Synth for Beginner Player/Live

What? A ROMpler emulates realistic sounds by the way of samples such as pianos. The Venom is a synth, right? Every video and webpage calls it a synth, as in it can create its own sounds with oscillators.

Re: Synth for Beginner Player/Live

We will use softsynths, I just want him to have a hardware synth just so he can get used to both and we don't have to wait for the software to load. A workstation may do. I want something that has many sounds and that can be programmed and edited when needed (live and in studio). I don't want someth...

Synth for Beginner Player/Live

There are many threads like this in this forum, but I'm pretty sure none of them are as specific as mine. If they are, they aren't recent enough for me. I'm starting a band, and one of our members wants to learn how to play a keyboard/synth for live shows. I'm not 100% sure on his budget, but I will...

Re: TG33 + SH-32 = $ CHING $

Well that sucks. I was planning on buying a SH-32; it's a pretty good synth for the price! I can see why the TG-33 is going up; to me, it seems a better deal than the DX-7 (unless you just want to have it for the sake of saying "I OWN A DX-7!!!1!!"). 32 voices of polyphony, 8 part multitimbrality, 1...

Re: Skrillex in next week's Rolling Stone (11/10/11)

Skrillex is ok in my book. He feels like an insult to electronic musicians because: He makes music on laptop with Beats headphones. "All I need is a laptop, really." - Skrillex I've never heard so much hate about Skrillex, real and stupid reasons. Find me more than 7 forums with threads deticated to...
