Re: How did Front Line Assembly create this sound?

I think I can hear a touch of moving "vocal"/formant (multiband) filter on that arp.
Worth a try (well, if it's not a HUGE aftereffect of the phaser).

I thought the guy who made this video is on our forum, but could not find him after a brief search - oh well.

Re: Recommendations after Virus Ti

Well, maybe also the KingKorg and the Radikal Technologies Accelerator - but price will be an issue.

Re: Recommendations after Virus Ti

Nothing off-the-shelf comes to mind...
Speaking used gear - your "spec" sounds like a Waldorf Q/Q-plus, or even a 61-key Supernova...

Re: Muffwiggler, can you log in?

If you dont mind me asking, where are you located? Sort of "middle of" . Should not matter actually, it's just Chrome being paranoid when it cannot negotiate latest https/ssl/tls cipher suites. Firefox opens the same link, and does not complain about security at all (that's why I'm on Chrome :mrgre...

Re: General Midi sound questions?

To my mind, the biggest omission in GM instruments and sample banks was not standardizing/normalizing the (volume) envelopes and timings for all the melodic voices. Then, when a GM file was "tailored" to sound perfectly on one specific GM engine, it will likely sound utter c**p on another. At the ve...

Re: Anyone else use a lot of Japanese synths?

A separate stand for the "low-voltage" stuff, a step-down conditioner and a powerstrip (or a rack power conditioner) on the bottmo shelf should work good.
Take good care of the grounding issues, and of the potential hot/cold wiring collisions possible with autotransformers...

Re: Looking for that 1990 movie sound...

Any other recommendations for a Wavestation-like sound? Something that's less "harsh" than the older synths, but doesn't really emulate any actual instruments? Warm pads, weird sounds suitable for ambient music... DX7 is my current choice for that. http://www.vintagesynth.com/emu/morpheus.php ? Or ...

Re: Roland Boutique

how much does another DSP cost, relatively speaking. Ok, well, lets take a hypothetical, and suppose as speculated above the JP-08 has two ESC2 chips because it has more synth parameters than the other two and costs $100 more. (Bear that in mind, in our hypothetical situation, there is 1 extra ESC2...

Re: Roland Boutique

1. Rackable? Would be good to have native "tilting" ears from Roland. V-Synth XT's ones are a perfect thing, IMO.
2. Virtually the same size as Waldorf's desktops (Blofeld, Pulse2). Good.
