Re: Desktop Modules

Yamaha MU boxes.

I'm still undecided whether to get an MU2000EX and stuff it with 3 PLG boards - or to get a Motif ES Rack and stuff it with only 2 PLG boards...

Re: What synth should I buy for funk and prog?

^^ I'd half-guess that the OP rather aimed at spending his time on actually playing funk and prog, not on programming sounds for playing funk and prog. At least that's what I hear from "I need something that can dish out some good funk and good prog" . ... one probably won't ask F1 pilots to repair ...

8MB Programmable Waveform Card for Yamaha SY/TG series

(Having in mind the great success of the JD800/990 custom cards thread)
I believe it's worth knowing that Sector101 is completing a similar project on SY/TG user-editable waveform cards.
Follow the progress at yamahaforums.

Re: What's your favorite synthesis method--

Anything with dynamic filtering (well, with "dynamic" being more complex than just "LFO-to-FilterFrequency" or "keytracking"). Count in E-mu's Z-planes, Hartmann Neuron, K5000 and similar, VirSyn's engines where you literally draw your filter curves, Variphrase and similar vocoding... Kyma's morphin...

Re: Randomness in drum machines sounds (not the sequencer)

I don't see why most digital (S&S or anything) sound generation engines would not be able to achieve the same effect - unless we're talking "pure romplers without any sound shaping capabilities" or similar designs. Probably, does not even need to be modular/patchable - just apply a small amount of a...

I'm not ashamed to still have one
Also a DVD of PFT's 1983 concert in Moscow (which I happened to first watch as a broadcast on the state TV then).

 h**l yes!! You all guys should learn from the OP about how to create "buzz" and "marketing hype" and "induced interest" about a video/band nobody would really care about before. Re: Any Software Editor Options for Ensoniq SQ80?

If you don't mind an iPad as a software controller, you may find this thread on GS worth reading. The guys seem to have done some progress with TouchOSC and TB MIDI stuff. And some more (or just google for something like "ensoniq sq80 ipad"): http://patcharena.com/downloads/comment.php?dlid=1110 htt...

Re: Quality MIDI keyboard controllers still available?

If I were you, I'd start with a BIG checklist like below: My gear item #1 accepts external MIDI control as: MIDI CC: yes (about 40% of the synth's editable parameters can be controlled through CCs') SYSX: yes (about 75% can be controlled) NRPN:yes (about 95% can be controlled) My gear item #2... ......
