Re: question

A drum machine is the machine that do that percussion. There are LOTS of them, new and old. For example, Boss dr series, Korg Electribe series, Roland Tr series, etc. The Putney VCS3, better known as EMS VCS3, is still in production if I remember correctly. If you can't pay one (it's not cheap), you...

I had a miniak ( =micron) and a Xio, both of them are really good sounding if you program them carefully.

Re: New Studiologic Sledge Polyphonic Synthesizer

How crippled is it? To me, only four assignable knobs is more crippled than instant access to over 40 parameters. Also, you may think that programming the Blofeld via menu diving is easy, but I have read plenty of reviews where people said that they were getting rid of their Blofeld because they ha...

Re: New Studiologic Sledge Polyphonic Synthesizer

you can assign 4 midi controllers to a blofeld... And really, it's very easy to program it. Also, the sledge is not just like a blofeld with more knobs, it's a crippled one.

Re: Waldorf Pulse 2

paraphonic means that instead of 8 voice of polyphony (VCO-VCF-VCA per voice) you have 8 stages of VCO but only one stage of the rest. For example, a synth with 1VCO, 1VCF and 1VCA, if its 4 voice polyphonic, it means that all voices have 1VCO, 1VCF and 1VCA stages, if its 4 voice paraphonic, it mea...

Re: What is this drone synth?

it says with a guitar AMP and distortion. It's a noise generator, you must connect it to some kind of amp to hear it, they used a guitar amp and some distortion.

Re: Genesis - Wind and Wuthering

Hi! Thanks for this great thread! Listening to Wind And Wuthering some minutes ago I was wondering which keyboards were used for "Afterglow"? There's some Taurus I guess but what about the nice pad sounds? Thanks for any information about the song ;) It's a hammond B3 with a phaser instead of a les...

because vintage instruments are i n v e s t m e n t s But for how long? I can imagine that current people in their 30's, 40's, 50's grew up drooling over 70's and 80's synths they couldn't afford. But today's youngsters? They grow up in a virtual world in which everything is either cheap or free (f...
