Re: The Poly 800 Appreciation Thread
It's really got its own sound, and I have a hard time making it deviate from that...mainly cause all the settings are way out of wack, some of the values are even beyond the normal maximum! You'd think that might have some cool effect, but for the most part it just sounds like an someone playing a l...

Re: The Poly 800 Appreciation Thread
I just picked up a Poly 800 and a EX 800 last weekend. I was surprised at how much I liked it and how good it sounds for a such a basic synth. I use to laugh at it before and would have not picked them up if they were not so cheap just $125 for both. Sorry to resurrect this, but I actually spotted ...

Cool beans. Until this week my 2nd ESX was with a buddy to help him drop samples over his DJ sets. Is the original project still go?

Re: an1x questions
More like "one button held down...within a submenu...within a menu...seperate from the other half of the matrix" but it's not totally incomprehensible for the most part. I realize the bottom rows of the right-hand matrix are the more general system settings and the ones above are for the patch (temp...

Re: an1x questions
Sorry to hijack this, but would anyone be able to help explain the whole Scene Morph paradigm to me? I've turned off the MIDI assignment for Scene Change because I have no idea how to set up the scene morphing when I create a patch...I just wanted my modwheel back. Can I turn this off so I have an a...

Re: Help picking a new synth? Microkorg/XL/Mininova/r3 or ot
I'll preface by stating that I can only really comment on the 3 Korg offerings** out of this bunch, and of those the R3's clearly the best. You get as much FX as you could possibly want, good variety of sounds, excellent vocoder with Formant Motion sample-like recording, unique waveforms, great mono...

Could've told me this was a Large Professor beat and I wouldn't have questioned it.

Re: Hello! Newb here, looking for some suggestions from pro
I hear the X50 sounds great, but people have raised concerns about build quality, but that's usually from whiners with a chip on their shoulder. I'd say as long as you treat it as well as an acoustic and don't smash it around you should be fine for that. Looking at its specs, it ought to be a great ...

RetroCade Synth
I came across THIS chiptune synth project on Kickstarter today, and it's got me feeling that GAS pain. No hardware knobs yet on the "MegaWing" I/O control interface from what I can tell, but check out what's on the table from the website... Papilio FPGA (Click to learn more) •Xilinx Spartan FPGA (Sp...

Re: Korg Radias Out of Production
Hopefully this means they're hard at work on a new generation VA or maybe true analog with all the mono stuff they've been firing off!
Let's see an updated line of Electribes, please.

Re: Any Advice on an Entry-Level Synth?
Just get the MicroKorg: it's under $300, it's new, it's got MIDI, it's fully-featured and covers a lot of synth territory. A lot of the suggestions here are for products which, although powerful in their own regard, lack many of the features you'd get in an "all-in-one" like the MicroKorg. It's also...

I find video tutorials--if you can find one on what you need to learn--explain a lot in a way that's easy to pick up. Check this one out and hopefully you'll have a better idea!

Wow that's really unfortunate! If I were you, I'd try checking my power source and getting a surge protector if you haven't already. Hope everything works out for you in your situation.
