Re: Help with set portamento

I'm afraid you can't adjust the Portamento from the front panel - But you CAN send CC messages from an external MIDI controller to switch Portamento on/off and adjust the time. Send CC5 to adjust time Send CC65 to switch on/off Take a look at the MIDI implementation chart for the JV-1010 to see what...

Re: Is the Behringer Model D Finally Shipping?

I'm giving mine a bit of a make-over, but I've also built the Guin Guin MME, so I'm not sure which will win pole position in the cabinet ;)

Re: Accidentally connected sync out with sync out

I very much doubt if any damage has been done - Most circuits like these are designed to be protected precisely for situations like this.

Re: Is the Behringer Model D Finally Shipping?

What are your impressions of the build quality? Positive? Any concerns? For $299, people are going to wonder what if any issues there may be regarding build quality. The build quality is better than I expected - It seems much more robust than the Roland SE-02, no wobbly pots, they feel great in use...

Re: Is the Behringer Model D Finally Shipping?

Mine arrived yesterday :D Can I just say that there is no discernible difference between the D and a genuine MM*** - The sound and behavior is identical (within component tolerances) - I glad to say that Behringer have not "corrected" anything, the envelope overshoot is still there, as is the way th...

Re: Is the Behringer Model D Finally Shipping?

Company staged unboxings? Many companies give freebies to bloggers specifically for this purpose, so I wouldn't be surprised - I know of a few guys in Germany that received theirs a few weeks ago, but I've now had confirmation from DHL... delivery on Monday. Apparently Sweetwater have had their del...

Yes, it's really shipping - Back orders are coming through to the UK now. I received notice of dispatch yesterday :D

Re: Classic Synth Paint

Wow I've just noticed you're not far from me! Do you know of a powder coater that you can recommend for doing the black background of the faceplates? Dave Ashton Powder Coating just off the M60 - They usually turn a job around within a week. I use a UV process to get my designs onto the mesh (It's ...

Re: Classic Synth Paint

Does anyone know what kind of paint was used to paint the faceplates of synths like the Juno 6 and Jupiter 8? The lettering looks slightly raised and glossy almost like an enamel paint? They're usually screen printed with either a two part epoxy paint (which cures at room temperature) or one that h...

Re: KORG Prologue

Releasing an SDK to create your own Oscillators and FX is a stroke of genius... exactly what Roland should have done with the System 8 to make your own Plug-outs.

Re: Xanadu movie (yeah, the 1980's with Olivia Newton-John)

I saw The Tubes live at Southampton Gaumont (TV is King Tour - 1981?), Michael Cotton got a bit carried away, and his entire synth cabinet collapsed. He spent the rest of the gig sat down twiddling his thumbs.

Re: VP-330 Alternative?

Yeah, I can't sustain a note very long with my voice. I wonder how Suzanne Ciani did it on Seven Waves and Velocity of Love . Vocoder Hold pedal on the back of the VP330 - As soon as you hit the pedal, the formants are frozen, so you can get an "Ahh" sound without running out of breath ;) I built t...

Re: Which synthesizer(s) do you regret getting or selling

I always regretted selling my ARP2600 to buy an Atari 1040STE and Monitor - I'm happy to have it back in my arsenal now though.

The worst synth I ever bought... The Oberheim (Viscount) OB-12. Even the thought of it makes me shudder.

Re: Why were Juno 106 made with black epoxy over the voices?

It's more than likely there to stabilize the VCF/VCA from temperature and moisture fluctuations. I doubt it was to protect the design as the epoxy is so easy to remove.
